How to Change Your Name and Crosshair in THE FINALS

Change your Embark display name and crosshair in THE FINALS from the Career and Settings menus. Here are the steps and the 30-day name cooldown.

Your name lives at Settings → Social → Account → Edit Embark ID. Your crosshair lives in the Crosshair section of the Gameplay tab. Both take under a minute — but the name change has a 30-day cooldown, so read the naming rules before you commit.

Change your display name

In game, it’s four steps:

  1. Open Settings from the main menu.
  2. Go to Social, then the Account tab.
  3. Select Edit Embark ID.
  4. Type the new name and confirm.

You can also do it on the web. Sign in at id.embark.games, open your profile, and hit Edit beside your display name. Same result, same cooldown.

Embark’s naming rules:

  • 2 to 16 characters
  • Must start with a letter or a number
  • No more than four numbers in a row
  • Only hyphen, underscore and period allowed, one symbol at a time

A name that breaks the Code of Conduct gets reset to “Player”, and you wait another 30 days to pick again.

Your Embark ID also carries a numeric tag, so duplicate names are fine — you don’t need to be unique. Choose something you’ll still like next month.

Change your crosshair

Go to Settings → Gameplay → Crosshair. The identical options also sit under the Accessibility tab, so use whichever you find first.

What you can tune:

  • Width and Outline Width — line thickness, and the border around it
  • Red, Green, Blue — plus separate RGB sliders for the outline
  • Center Dot on or off, and Center Dot Radius
  • Opacity — drop it to 0 and the reticle disappears entirely

You can’t change the shape. There’s no dot-only or circle option like other shooters have; the cross stays a cross.

A crosshair you can actually see

Most arena surfaces are warm and muted, so saturated green or cyan reads far better than white. Yellow is the worst pick you could make — it’s already all over the maps.

Keep width and dot radius low so the reticle isn’t covering the thing you’re shooting at, and leave opacity high. Test changes in the Practice Range before queueing. A crosshair that looks clean against a menu can vanish inside smoke.

Colour choices matter more than reticle size once you’re in a real fight, but neither beats knowing your weapon. Check the S12 weapon tier list and pick a class that fits how you move. For everything else on screen, the settings and FPS guide covers the rest.
