Apex Ranked System: Tiers, RP and the Split 2 Reset
Season 30 ranked ladder: eight tiers, RP from placement plus kills, an entry cost per division, and the Split 2 reset. How the points work.
Ranked in Apex rewards patience more than pubs do. If you only learn one thing, learn this: third-partying, ring positioning, and picking your fights beat raw aim at almost every tier above Gold. The numbers below explain why the ladder feels the way it does in Season 30.
The eight tiers
The ladder runs Rookie → Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Diamond → Master → Apex Predator.
- Rookie through Diamond each split into four divisions (IV is entry, I is the step before promotion).
- Master has no divisions.
- Apex Predator is a hard cap: only the top 750 players per platform hold it at any moment, and new entrants must out-RP someone already on it.
How RP is earned
RP comes from two sources: match placement and eliminations (kills and assists).
- Eliminations against higher-ranked opponents grant a Challenger Bonus of +50% RP.
- To stop squads from farming one wipe, RP per elimination is halved after your 8th kill or assist in a match.
This is the single biggest reason ranked feels different from pubs: a quiet, well-placed 5th with two kills often out-earns a 12-kill 12th place.
Entry cost per division
Every promotion past a division costs RP upfront, and it climbs as you rise:
| Tier | Entry cost |
|---|---|
| Bronze | 1 RP |
| Silver | 12 RP |
| Gold | 30 RP |
| Platinum | 48 RP |
| Diamond | 60 RP |
| Master | 75 RP |
Rookie has no entry cost. The cost is why a bad session at Diamond stings more than a bad session at Silver — you pay to climb back.
Split 2 and the reset
Season 30 split into two halves. Split 2 went live on 15 September 2026 and brought a new map rotation plus a ranked reset that pulled everyone down a division or two. Exactly where you land depends on your Split 1 finish — the table in the ranked guide covers it. Each half also runs longer ranked ladders (competitive windows extended to five days) so there is more time to climb before a reset.
What changes in Season 31 (November 2026)
EA published its ranked roadmap on 20 October 2026. Season 31, which starts right after Marked ends on 3 November, changes four rules:
- Legend bans in Diamond+: every player votes for one Legend in a pre-match ban phase; the system bans Legends at random, weighted by votes.
- Account Level 20 becomes the only requirement to unlock ranked (the Road to Ranked challenges go away).
- Demotion Shields: when one match could demote you, you hold 3 Demotion Shields; you drop a tier only after the third.
- Lobby Tier and entry costs adjust so off-tier squads play Challenger or Goliath matches.
Until 3 November, every rule above stands for Season 30. The bigger ranked rebuild (new ranks, two leagues) lands in Season 32, not 31.
Practical takeaways
- If you are stuck, stop grinding kills — place higher and third-party the right fight.
- Track your entry cost: don’t force climbs at Diamond when a single off-game costs 60 RP.
- Use the five-day ladder windows; they reset regardless of your form.
