ARC Raiders Beginner Mistakes That Cost Gear

The early deaths in ARC Raiders are not bad luck. They are predictable mistakes, and most of them are the same five errors repeated by every new raider.

Mistake one: fighting everything you see

New raiders treat ARC machines like targets instead of obstacles. Most machines do not need to die; they need to be avoided or slipped past. The stealth guide exists because the players who extract richest are the ones who chose not to fight. Every fight you start is a fight that can end your raid. Ask whether the loot behind the machine is worth the gear in front of it before you fire.

Mistake two: looting in the open

The bag is tempting, but crouching over a container in a sightline is how you get shot by another raider or flanked by a machine you ignored. Loot from cover, and loot facing the direction a threat would come from, not the container. The combat guide covers positioning, and positioning is what separates a looter from a target.

Mistake three: one extraction plan

Players who pick a single extraction get trapped between the loot and a wall when that extraction is contested. The route planning page pushes two extractions for a reason: the second one is the default, not the backup.

Mistake four: overpacking the loadout

A new raider brings the best gun they own and loses it on the first death. Early raids should run gear you can replace, not gear you fear losing. The loadout guide explains how to scale risk to your stash, not to your ambition.

Mistake five: no turnaround point

Death most often happens on the way out, when a player pushes one more room past the safe exit time. Decide before the raid where the turnaround is, and honor it even when the next container looks good. The first raids guide walks through a safe early loop. The mistakes above are what that guide is built to prevent.
