ARC Raiders Maps: Six Maps and the Unlock Ladder
Map access is gated on rounds played, not level or win rate. Six maps from 8 to 24 rounds, and why the ladder is not sorted by difficulty.
The ladder
| Map | Rounds to unlock | Round length |
|---|---|---|
| Dam Battlegrounds | none | 30 min |
| Practice Range | 4 | 2 hours |
| Buried City | 8 | 30 min |
| The Spaceport | 12 | 30 min (40 on Hidden Bunker) |
| The Blue Gate | 18 | 30 min (40 on Locked Gate) |
| Riven Tides | 20 | 30 min |
| Stella Montis | 24 | 30 min |
| The Practice Range sits on the same counter and is the cheapest investment on the list. Two hours of shooting at plates costs you nothing and teaches recoil, weak points, and how a new weapon actually behaves, which is a lesson you would otherwise buy with a kit. |
The ladder is not sorted by difficulty
Riven Tides opens at 20 rounds and is the hardest surface map. Stella Montis opens four rounds later and is rated easier. If you read the unlock order as a difficulty curve you will walk into Riven Tides under-geared and conclude the map is unfair. The counter is graded per condition, and the grade on the map select screen describes the normal weather only. Dam Battlegrounds is a mid-tier map until Hurricane rolls in, at which point it outranks almost everything. Read the condition banner before you read the rating — the condition system is what actually decides how a raid will feel.
What each unlock is really for
Buried City exists to teach tight-space decisions. Short sightlines, rooftops, interiors: fine for looting, brutal for third parties. The Spaceport is the industrial and tech loot stop. Long sightlines punish open rotations, so bring something that works at range. The Blue Gate is the flexible farming map. Open valley, buildings, and underground routes let you stack several quest objectives in one run. Riven Tides is coastal and exposed. Go in with a named objective: a quest item, an event, a planned route. Stella Montis is the endgame indoor facility, covered separately in the Stella Montis route.
Unlocking is not readiness
The gate never asks about your gear, your level, or your win rate. A 20-round player can queue Riven Tides with a free loadout and lose four kits learning what a ten-round player would have learned on Buried City. The habit worth building is to treat an unlock as permission to scout, not permission to farm — one throwaway run to learn exits, then decide whether the map deserves real gear.
