Best LMG in Black Ops 7 (Season 6)
The Season 6 LMGs in BO7 — Mammoth is the damage king, MK.78, Sokol 545 and XM325 all got buffs, and the class is built for holding, not duels.
LMGs in Black Ops 7 trade mobility for sustained fire and huge magazines. They are the suppression and hardpoint-hold class, not the run-and-gun class — pick one when your job is to lock down a lane, not to rotate. The Season 6 patch buffed three of the four guns, which is why the class is more relevant than it was at launch. Numbers are from the Season 6 patch notes (Dexerto) and the CODMunity weekly meta (2026-10-19).
Mammoth — the damage king
Mammoth is the Absolute Meta LMG in Season 6 and the fastest-killing of the class: a 160 ms time-to-kill near and mid range, an 810 m/s bullet velocity, but a slow 409 ms ADS and heavy handling. It trades speed for raw kill power, so it suits a defensive anchor more than a roamer. If you want one LMG to learn, this is it.
MK.78, Sokol 545, XM325 — the buffed trio
All three received Season 6 buffs:
- MK.78: minimum damage raised from 28 to 29, tightening its long-range falloff.
- Sokol 545: max damage up from 44 to 47 and minimum from 35 to 36 — the most mobile LMG, now hits harder too.
- XM325: headshot multiplier raised from 1.2x to 1.3x, rewarding accurate fire.
Sokol 545 is the pick if you want LMG firepower with the least punishment to your movement; XM325 rewards headshots; MK.78 is the steady all-rounder of the three.
Where the class fits
Run an LMG on Hardpoint and Domination when you are holding a hill, or on maps with long sightlines you can pre-fire. Do not run one on small, rotate-heavy maps — the handling will get you killed. LMGs also pair well with Overkill as a “primary for the hold, SMG for the rotate” combo, or as a dedicated suppression tool in objective modes.
Build and mode notes
LMGs want stability and magazine parts over mobility. The attachment philosophy guide covers the universal best-in-slot logic, and the full weapon list shows the four-gun pool. The buffs above are Multiplayer-relevant (some velocity changes are Warzone / Resurgence only). This is the Season 6 state as of October 2026; the class is stable but the buffed trio can promote or drop a tier with one balance pass.
