Best Assault Rifle in Black Ops 7 (Season 6)

Which BO7 assault rifle to use in Season 6 — EGRT-17, FG42, TR51 Para, Voyak KT-3, VX and Peacekeeper Mk1 compared on TTK, velocity and ADS.

The assault rifle is still the backbone of most Black Ops 7 loadouts, but “best AR” is not one gun — it depends on the distances you actually win fights at. In Season 6 Multiplayer the meta has settled into a clear split: a few rifles dominate the lane-control role, one semi-auto is the fastest thing in the class, and the rest are solid but out-classed. All numbers below are from the live Season 6 Multiplayer snapshot (CODMunity weekly meta, checked 2026-10-19, cross-checked with The Click’s October 3 tier data). TTK is time-to-kill against 150 HP with no attachments; bullet velocity is m/s; ADS is aim-down-sight time in ms.

The Season 6 MP rifle ladder (real numbers)

RifleTTK near / mid / farBullet vel.ADSMeta tier
EGRT-17296 / 301 / 469 ms618171Top AR
FG42193 / 227 / 331 ms740306Absolute Meta
TR51 Para204 / 204 / 286 ms800225Strong
Voyak KT-3276 / 300 / 464 ms592200Strong
VX Compact290 / 293 / 385 ms600200Strong
Peacekeeper Mk1280 / 305 / 462 ms548198Strong

The headline you should not misread: FG42 posts the fastest raw TTK in the class (193 ms up close), but it is a heavy, slower-handling rifle best suited to holding sightlines. EGRT-17 is the most balanced top pick and the one most creators rank #1 overall. TR51 Para is a semi-auto with a 204 ms ceiling — fastest in the class on a clean trigger, but it punishes misses.

EGRT-17 — the safe #1 for most maps

EGRT-17 is the rifle most top-ranked loadouts default to in Season 6. Its TTK stays tight from close through mid (296 / 301 ms) and it handles well enough to push. The published Multiplayer build pairs a suppressor with a mid barrel, a fast mag, a recoil grip and a mobility stock so it can hold lanes and still reposition. If you only want one AR to level and trust, this is it.

FG42 — lane control and long sightlines

FG42 trades handling for raw kill speed. At 193 ms up close and 740 m/s velocity it beats every other AR at range, but its 306 ms ADS and heavier feel mean it punishes peeking against SMGs indoors. Run it on maps with long lanes (the Hardpoint / Search & Destroy pool in Ranked Play favours this role). Pair it with recoil-control attachments rather than mobility.

TR51 Para — fastest ceiling, hardest to use

TR51 Para’s 204 ms TTK is the best in class, but it is a semi-auto: every missed shot resets your timer. It rewards players with clean trigger discipline and pre-aim. If you are still tracking targets under pressure, the full-auto EGRT-17 or Voyak KT-3 will win more fights for you despite slower paper numbers.

Voyak KT-3, VX Compact, Peacekeeper Mk1 — the strong tier

These three sit one step below the top two and are all viable. Voyak KT-3 has the best mid-range TTK of the group (300 ms) and 592 m/s velocity. VX Compact and Peacekeeper Mk1 both ADS in ~200 ms, making them the most aggressive ARs for close-to-mid fights. None is a mistake to run.

What about M15 Mod 0 and AN-94?

Both appear in older or mode-specific stat snapshots with excellent TTK (M15 around 200 ms, AN-94 around 196 ms), but they are not in the current Season 6 Multiplayer top tier — they perform best in Ranked Play, where M15 Mod 0 is the leading Ranked AR thanks to the restricted weapon pool. If you mainly play Ranked, M15 is the safer AR pick than anything listed above.

Build philosophy, not copy-paste

Every rifle above benefits from the same core logic: stabilise first, then mobility, then range. Our attachment philosophy guide breaks down the three universal best-in-slot parts (Buffer Spring, a 3mW laser, and a suppressor/barrel combo) and how to prioritise them per weapon role. The full class list shows where each rifle sits in the 14-gun AR pool.

One caveat that matters

These numbers are the Season 6 Multiplayer state as of mid-October 2026. Treyarch tunes the AR class through the season, and a single patch can flip the ladder. Treat this as a starting point, not law — and remember that the rifle you can consistently hit with beats the one with the better stat line on paper.
