Best Marksman Rifle in Black Ops 7 (Season 6)
The Season 6 marksman rifles in BO7 — Swordfish A1 and M8A1 hold the ground between assault rifles and snipers, with real TTK, velocity and ADS.
Marksman rifles are the precision middle ground in Black Ops 7: faster and more forgiving than snipers, longer-reaching than assault rifles. They shine at the 20–50 m band where an AR starts to fall off but a sniper feels wasteful. In Season 6 Multiplayer two guns clearly lead the class. Numbers are the live S6 MP snapshot (CODMunity weekly meta, 2026-10-19). TTK is against 150 HP, no attachments; velocity is m/s; ADS is ms.
The Season 6 MP marksman ladder (real numbers)
| Marksman | TTK near / mid / far | Bullet vel. | ADS | Meta tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| M8A1 | 305 / 305 / 425 ms | 740 | 271 | Strong |

Swordfish A1 — the precision pick
Swordfish A1 is the Absolute Meta marksman and the highest-tier precision option in the whole Season 6 list. It is a burst-fire rifle with very low recoil, which makes its 224 ms close TTK repeatable even for players who struggle with full-auto spray. Its 679 m/s velocity and 293 ms ADS let it challenge at mid range without feeling like a sniper. If you want one marksman to learn, this is it.
M8A1 — the steady alternative
M8A1 sits one tier below but is easy to use in bursts with strong mid-range presence (305 ms, 740 m/s). It is the safer pick if Swordfish’s burst timing does not click for you, and it reaches further than most ARs without the one-shot commitment of a sniper.
M34 Novaline, KRS-7.62, Warden 308 — the contenders
These three are viable but out-classed by the top two in the current meta. They are fine as camo grinders or if you prefer their handling, but do not expect them to out-perform Swordfish A1 in a straight duel.
Where the class fits
Run a marksman when your map is a mix of mid lanes and long sightlines and you do not want to swap to a sniper for every angle. It pairs naturally with an SMG secondary for the inevitable close fight — the opposite of the sniper’s “one long gun plus a run-and-gun backup” logic. Keep range attachments modest; these guns already out-reach ARs without help.
Build and meta notes
Prioritise recoil control and ADS over raw velocity — the class already has velocity to spare. The attachment philosophy guide explains the universal best-in-slot parts, and the full weapon list places each marksman in the five-gun pool. This is the Season 6 Multiplayer state as of October 2026; burst-rifle balance shifts occasionally, so re-check before a ranked push.
