Black Ops 7 Best PS5 and Xbox Settings
Console settings in BO7 are limited but decisive. Learn the 120Hz switch, the FOV range, deadzone values, and the two options guides disagree on.
Black Ops 7 Best PS5 and Xbox Settings
Black Ops 7 gives console players far fewer settings than PC players get, which makes the ones you do have more important, not less. A handful of them decide whether you see an enemy a fraction earlier and whether your aim tracks through a strafe.
Before you change anything: go to Options → Account and Network → Import Settings and pull your settings from a previous Call of Duty title. It saves ten minutes of rebuilding muscle memory for values you already liked.
The single most important setting
120 Hz Refresh Rate: On. If your TV or monitor supports it, this is the biggest single change available on console. It roughly doubles how often the image updates, which cuts input lag and makes moving targets easier to track.
The trade is visual quality, and in practice you will barely notice it. Turning 120 Hz off to protect the graphics is the most common mistake console players make — it costs you reaction time to preserve detail you will not be looking at.
Graphics: remove the noise
Four settings exist mostly to make screenshots look nice. All four cost you visibility:
- World Motion Blur: Off. On a 60 Hz mode this is actively harmful — you cannot see an enemy while turning.
- Weapon Motion Blur: Off. Keeps your iron sights crisp while moving.
- Depth of Field: Off. Blurs everything outside your scope, which is exactly where the second enemy is standing.
- FidelityFX CAS: On, strength in the 70–90 range. This sharpens the image without the blur of heavy upscaling. Sources disagree on the exact number; start at 90 and lower it if the image looks harsh on your display.
One more that affects smoothness rather than clarity: On-Demand Texture Streaming → Minimal. Leaving it high pulls texture data during matches, which shows up as stutter in the middle of a fight. If you are on a poor connection, turning it off entirely is reasonable.
Field of view
FOV: 105 is the sweet spot for console. The range guides quote runs from 100 to 110, and the trade is real in both directions — too low and you cannot see a flank, too high and distant enemies shrink to the point where you cannot aim at them.
Pair it with ADS Field of View: Affected. This keeps your sensitivity consistent when you aim down sights instead of introducing a zoom change that breaks your tracking. Also set Weapon Field of View: Wide, and put First and Third Person Camera Movement at Least (50%) — a shaking camera obstructs aim and gives you nothing.
Deadzones and the two settings guides disagree on
Deadzones are the highest-value tuning on a controller, because they decide how much stick movement is wasted before the game registers input:
- Left stick minimum: 0 — full responsiveness for movement
- Left stick maximum: 60–70 — prevents drift without cutting your sprint
- Right stick minimum: 2 — enough to stop idle drift, low enough to stay precise
- Right stick maximum: 95–99 — keeps your full aiming range
Trigger deadzones at 0 give instant response for sprinting and firing.
Two settings genuinely divide the guide writers, and both are preference rather than fact:
Aim Response Curve — some recommend Dynamic (faster response, better for quick target switching), others Standard (more consistent, easier to build muscle memory on). ADS Sensitivity Transition Timing splits the same way between Instant and Gradual.
Pick one of each, then leave them alone for two weeks. Changing these every session is the fastest way to never develop aim consistency — the same principle as sensitivity in Valorant.
PS5 system settings worth changing
These sit outside the game and are easy to miss:
- HDCP: Off in HDMI settings — reduces input lag
- VRR: Automatic, 120Hz Output: Automatic
- Performance Mode in saved-data/game-app settings, and turn power saving off for games
- Bluetooth off, controller over USB into a USB 3 port — removes wireless polling delay
Audio
Sound is information in Black Ops 7, so treat these as gameplay settings:
- Master 100, Effects 100, Gameplay Music 0, Cinematic Music 0 — music competes with footsteps for your attention
- Audio Mix: Headphones or Sucker Punch — both lift the frequencies footsteps sit in
- Reduce Tinnitus Sound: On — it protects your hearing without affecting directional cues
- Enhanced Headphone Mode is genuinely double-edged. Some players find it clearer, others find it muddier. Test it, do not assume.
