Black Ops 7 Calling Cards: How to Change and Unlock Them
Change your BO7 Calling Card from the Career menu's Customize screen, and set up to three in your Showcase. Learn where the unlocks actually come from.
Black Ops 7 Calling Cards: How to Change and Unlock Them
Calling Cards are the profile banners that show off what you have done in Black Ops 7. They appear on loading screens, killcams, and your player profile, and they are unlocked almost entirely by completing challenges rather than by buying anything. Here is how the system works and where to change them.
How to Change Your Calling Card
- Go to the Career tab at the top of any game mode’s lobby.
- Click the Customize button on the right end of the menu.
- In the Customize menu, open the Calling Card menu.
- Choose the card you want to equip. You can filter and sort your collection from the same screen.
How to Edit the Calling Card Showcase
Separate from your equipped card, your Social profile has a Calling Card Showcase that displays up to three cards:
- Open the Social menu in any mode’s lobby.
- Look to the lower right for the personalizable showcases, find the Calling Card Showcase, and press Edit.
- Click any of the three slots and swap it for the card you want.
- Filter and sort from within the same menu.
If you never customize the showcase, the game defaults to displaying the three most recent cards you earned — so it is worth setting deliberately if you want your best unlocks visible.
Where Calling Cards Come From
Cards are earned by completing challenges, and each game mode has its own set. Multiplayer, Zombies, and the Co-op Campaign each track separate objectives, so a player who only touches one mode will miss a large portion of the collection.
The main categories are:
- Default cards you start with.
- Challenge cards tied to combat badges, match performance, wins, and eliminations.
- Mastery cards that require unlocking a set of Mastery Badges first.
- Camo and Prestige cards tied to weapon and account progression.
- Dark Ops cards, the rarest tier, whose requirements stay hidden until you complete them.
Some unlock requirements remain hidden until you reach certain missions, areas, or equipment, which is why Dark Ops cards feel impossible to plan for — you discover them by completing them.
Viewing and Tracking Progress
You can find every available challenge in the Career menu under the Challenges tab, which is also where you track progress. Completed Dark Ops challenges pop a notification on screen showing which one you hit and a preview of the card, and you can view and equip them from the Dark Ops tab inside Challenges.
Because progress is tracked in the background while you play, the practical approach is to check the Challenges tab at the start of a session and build a loadout that advances several objectives at once rather than grinding one card in isolation.
Why Bother
Beyond cosmetics, some cards are genuinely hard to earn and function as a visible skill signal in the lobby. The Nuclear Killer card tied to a 30-kill streak is the obvious example — see our hardest achievements guide for where the toughest unlocks sit, and our prestige guide for the progression track that feeds the Prestige cards.
Common Mistakes
- Looking in the Social menu for the main equip option — the equipped card is set from Career → Customize, not Social.
- Assuming the showcase and the equipped card are the same thing.
- Only playing one mode and wondering why a large chunk of the collection never unlocks.
- Expecting Dark Ops requirements to be visible before completion.
