BO7’s live season structure matters for battle-pass planning, map rotations, and knowing when your grind windows close. Here is the full timeline as confirmed, plus the one fact most players get wrong when they search for “BO7 Season 7.”

Adjacent seasons ran about 6–9 weeks apart, which is a shorter cadence than some earlier Call of Duty titles. That matters more than it sounds: a shorter season means less time per Battle Pass, so a pass you buy late in a season is a pass you may not finish.

Exact end dates can shift by a day or two when Activision adjusts the calendar, so treat the table as planning guidance rather than a deadline. The live counter in the client is always the current truth; this table is for deciding when to start a grind, not for the final hour.

Season 6 is the final season

This is the part players ask about most — “when is Season 7?” As of our last check (2026-10-27), Activision has not announced a Season 7. Season 6 (“The Haunting”) is confirmed as BO7’s final season. There is no Season 7 roadmap.

Anything labelled “BO7 Season 7” in search results is players asking the same question, not an official date. Treat any “Season 7 start date” claim as unverified until Activision publishes it — and note that a final season is not the same as a dead game, which is the distinction most of those threads miss.

What this actually means for your grind

Three practical consequences, and none of them are “stop playing.”

Nothing gets wiped. Your Weapon Prestige, camos, Zombies progress and account level all stay in BO7. The game remains playable after Season 6, and there is no shutdown date attached to the final season.

Do not buy a Battle Pass assuming a next one. With Season 6 as the last pass, there is no future pass to “catch up” in. Buy it if you will finish it, and check how many tiers remain before you do — a pass bought at tier 30 with two weeks left is the most common way players lose VP.

Permanent progression is worth more than seasonal progression. Weapon Prestige and mastery camos do not expire; Battle Pass rewards stop being earnable when the season does. If you are short on time, prioritise the things that persist. Our weapon prestige guide and camo challenges guide cover both ladders.

The handoff to Modern Warfare 4

The bigger calendar event is Modern Warfare 4, which launched October 23, 2026. It is a near-total multiplayer reset — a new weapon pool, new progression, new maps — so time spent in BO7 after that date is time spent in a game whose population is splitting.

That does not mean BO7 is empty. It means the reason to play it changes: from “climbing the current game” to “finishing what you started here.” Our BO7 Carry Forward guide breaks down exactly what moves across and what does not, which is the decision most players actually need to make.

Where content keeps coming

Even in the final season, map and weapon additions landed across the calendar, and balance patches kept changing which guns were worth using. Our BO7 Weapons List tracks the full Season 6 roster, and our BO7 Multiplayer Maps covers the launch 18 plus later additions.
