Where is the Last City in Destiny 2?
The Last City sits on Earth beneath the Traveler. Here is its lore location and the in-game hub where you actually spend time.
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| The Last City (lore) | On Earth, built against the base of the Traveler |
| The Tower | The social hub inside the City |
| How you get there | Open orbit, pick Earth, land at the Tower |
The Last City is the last safe home of humanity in Destiny’s story. In the lore it sits on Earth, clustered at the foot of the Traveler, the giant sphere that hangs over it. That is the picture the game sells you.
The Tower stands in for the City
In practice you never walk the full city as a map. What you load into is the Tower, the walled courtyard that represents the City in gameplay. This is where you hand in quests, shop vendors, and manage your vault.
Landing at the Tower from orbit
To reach it, open your orbit map and select Earth, then land at the Tower node. From there every major service is a short walk. When a quest says “return to the Last City,” it means this space.
The City matters because it is your home base between activities. You will pass through it constantly, so learning its layout saves real time. The vault, postmaster, and upgrade kiosks are all here.
Don’t confuse the Tower with patrol Earth. The patrol zone is the outdoor area with public events, while the Tower is the safe hub. Both sit on the same planet choice in orbit.
Postmaster, vault and upgrade kiosks
The City also holds your postmaster, where items you could not carry get mailed to you. Check it often, because that mail expires and you can lose gear you forgot to collect. The vault and the upgrade kiosks sit steps apart, so the Tower is where most of your account upkeep happens.
