Destiny 2 Ouster Engine: how to look up any item

Cannot find 'Ouster Engine' in Destiny 2? Here is how to look up any item, quest, or lore name using collections, triumphs, and community tools.

You found the name Ouster Engine somewhere — a video title, a patch note, a clan chat — and now nothing in the game matches it. That happens more than it should, because Destiny 2 scatters its content across several menus.

Start with the Collections tab

Every weapon and armor piece you have unlocked appears there, along with cosmetics and emotes. Weapons show the perks they can roll, so the tab doubles as a roll reference. If an item exists on your account, it is in Collections.

Check Triumphs and lore next

Triumphs track everything from seals to one-off objectives, and the entries often name things the Navigator never shows. Lore is separate again. In-game lore books collect the story entries, and Ishtar Collective keeps a searchable archive with dates and context.

Use community tools for live data

DIM and light.gg index items and sources, and both handle partial-name searches. Search without the exact spelling, since these tools tolerate typos. If a name turns up nothing there, it probably belongs to removed or renamed content. Our collections guide explains how reacquisition works once you find an entry.

A caution about rotating content

Destiny 2 has rotated seasonal content for years, and names change between updates. An item that existed last year may be vaulted, and its replacement may share nothing but a theme. Vaulted material does not come back on a schedule. The Quest Archive kiosk in the Tower holds older campaign starts, and Bungie’s update notes document every rename and removal.

What to do when the name is real but gone

Some names belong to content that was removed on purpose. Vaulted campaigns, retired seasons, and old live events all left the game over the years. When that happens, the entry usually survives only in patch notes and community archives. Read a summary instead of hunting a quest icon that will never appear.

The data compendium page runs the same three-menu check for any name you cannot place.
