Weapon crafting lets you build your own god rolls instead of praying to RNG. The system survived Monument of Triumph and gained a new Tier 5 upgrade path in 2026. Here is how it works and what is worth crafting.

Unlocking a pattern

Craftable weapons drop with a red border. That border is pattern progress, not a finished item. Kill enemies with the red-border weapon to extract Deepsight Resonance. Fill the resonance bar and the pattern unlocks at the Shaping Slab.

Episode: Heresy made the Vault of Glass pool craftable, so several raid weapons now have patterns. Older raid and world pools keep their own pattern requirements.

Shaping and leveling

Once you own the pattern, shape the weapon at the Slab. Crafted weapons level with use, and each level unlocks more trait slots. At higher levels you can attach honed traits, which are stronger versions of standard perks. Leveling is the slow part, so only craft guns you will actually equip.

You can reshape a crafted weapon to reroll a trait column. That is the point of the system: if you hate a roll, fix it without farming another drop.

The Tier 5 upgrade

Update 9.7.0 added Tier 5 weapons. Upgrading a crafted or Adept weapon to Tier 5 adds an extra perk column, an enhanced origin trait, and a holographic shader. Armor cannot be crafted, so Tier 5 armor has to drop at that level directly.

Upgrade your best weapons first. A Tier 5 version of a gun you run every week beats a Tier 5 version of a gun sitting in your vault.

What is worth crafting

  • Weapons with deep perk pools where your god roll is rare.
  • Raid weapons you run weekly.
  • Anything where the pattern is close to done already.

Weapon crafting mistakes that waste resonance

  • Extracting resonance on a weapon you will not use.
  • Crafting before checking the pattern level requirements.
  • Spreading Tier 5 upgrades across your whole vault instead of one loadout.
