Shepherd Best Loadout and Role in Delta Force
Shepherd is the anti-gadget Engineer. How to build his sonic drone, traps, and blast defence into a hold, and which squad he needs.
Shepherd (Terry Musa) is an Engineer whose kit attacks the enemy’s ability to fight, not the enemy themselves. His kit cuts fire rates, breaks sonic devices, jams recon gear, and punishes anyone who steps onto a trap. His loadout is about timing and placement — and about running with a squad that will actually shoot the suppressed enemy.
Everything here is about building around that behaviour, not copying a weapon code. For the full skill breakdown see the Shepherd guide.
What the loadout must support
His value is entirely in deployed tools, so your weapon is the backup, not the star.
- Weapon: a reliable mid-range rifle. You are a holder, not a rusher. A stable assault rifle that lets you punish enemies inside the sonic zone works better than a CQB gun. The M4A1 build or K437 build suit a defensive anchor. Avoid light SMGs that lose the longer sightlines you are holding.
- Sonic Paralysis drone is the headline: it reduces enemy fire rate in its area, and — the part most players miss — it destroys enemy sonic devices and interferes with recon. Read the enemy composition first; against pure riflemen, half the tool does nothing.
Placement over firepower
- Sentry mode drops the drone in place to lock down a choke you are holding. Forward mode pushes suppression into an angle your squad is about to take. Radius against duration is the whole placement decision: short durations belong where you already stand, long ones can guard a lane you walk away from.
- Sonic Trap goes on the surfaces an enemy touches while entering — a doorframe, the wall beside a breach, a stairwell floor plate. Pre-place it; a trap thrown mid-duel usually detonates after the fight is decided. The slow is the valuable half — a slowed enemy cannot cross or retreat from your lane.
Squad pairing
Shepherd needs teammates who capitalise on the window he creates:
- D-Wolf (loadout) or Tempest (operator guide) — they shoot the suppressed enemy.
- Gizmo (operator guide) — the alternative Engineer when the enemy has no gadgets worth destroying, so the drone’s anti-gadget half is wasted.
His Sonic Defense trait reduces blast-wave damage, which is why he can sit on an objective being grenaded. Test the reduction against a satchel once in the training ground rather than planning around it — the suit survives chip damage, not a placed charge.
Shepherd is a counter-pick. Build the team around the window, not around his gun.
