Tarkov Seasonal Character: Separate Servers, Insurance Off
A Seasonal Character is an opt-in fresh start on separate servers that resets every four to six months, with its own flea market. How it differs.
A Seasonal Character is the fresh-start option inside Tarkov’s seasons system. It is not a wipe of your account — it is a separate, independent character that lives on its own servers and resets on its own clock. Understanding the boundaries is what stops players from confusing it with the old wipe.
Separate servers, separate progression
A Seasonal Character is completely independent from your PvP Zone and PvE Zone characters. It resets automatically every four to six months when a new season launches. Your permanent profiles are never touched by that reset.
Insurance is off in the season
The defining seasonal rule is that insurance is disabled in the seasonal realm. On your permanent profiles, insurance still works — and in 1.1.0.0 it even improved on some traders — but in a seasonal run, if you die, your gear is not returned. That single rule reshapes how you kit up and how much risk you take, because there is no safety net to soften a bad raid.
Its own economy
A Seasonal Character uses its own flea market with its own economy, separate from your main. The broader economy changes from the patch — trader prices, buyback, and the flea fee — are covered on the economy changes page, but the seasonal flea is its own marketplace.
Modifiers shape the run
Seasonal characters are built under two modifier layers: Global Modifiers that apply to everyone in the season and cannot be toggled, and optional Personal Modifiers chosen at creation through a points system. The modifiers page explains how the points balance works.
What you keep after it ends
Seasonal rewards you unlock stay on your account across all modes, but rewards still locked when the season ends become unobtainable. The three-profiles page shows how the seasonal queue sits alongside your permanent PvP and PvE characters.
