Escape from Tarkov Shoreline: The Resort and the Rest

Shoreline is one enormous building surrounded by empty ground. Why the resort decides the raid and how to approach it.

One building and a lot of nothing

Shoreline is dominated by a single large resort complex. The rest of the map - the village, the pier, the swamp, the weather station - exists mostly as routes and as secondary loot. That imbalance is the map’s identity. If you are not going to the resort, Shoreline is a quiet raid with mediocre loot. If you are, it is one of the most dangerous interiors in the game.

Why the resort is worth it

The resort holds the high-tier loot rooms, and those rooms are behind keys. Without keys, the resort is a maze of corridors where other players have the advantage of knowing which doors matter. So Shoreline is a key map as much as a combat map. A player with the right keys and a route is efficient; a player without them is doing laps of a building full of people who do.

Approaching the resort

The resort can be approached from the shoreline, from the village side, or across the grounds. Each approach has a different exposure profile, and all of them are watched in the first ten minutes of a raid. The mistake is to approach the way everyone approaches. The second mistake is to approach at all in the opening minutes without knowing where the other spawns are.

Inside: stairs are the whole fight

The resort is multi-storey with a small number of stairwells. That produces the same dynamic as any stacked interior: whoever holds the stairs controls movement between floors, and anyone who pushes up a stairwell is pushing into a prepared position. Move floor by floor, and clear the floor above before committing to the floor you are on.

The rest of the map

The village, pier, and swamp are lower-value but far safer, and they are where a broke player should be. They also generate the flanking routes into the resort, so they are not irrelevant to a resort raid - they are how a third party arrives.

Planning the exit

Shoreline’s exits are long walks from the resort. A fight in the resort at minute thirty is a fight you may win and still lose the raid to, because the walk out is where the survivors of other fights are waiting.
