Tarkov has more than ten raids, each with its own pace, loot, and danger. A tour of the maps, what each is for, and which to learn first.

Learn maps one at a time

Trying to learn every map at once is how you die lost. The starter maps order gives the sequence; the short version is to master Customs and Woods before touching Labs or Streets. Map knowledge is the single biggest multiplier on survival, and it only comes from repetition.

Small maps for fast raids

Factory and Ground Zero are compact, high-action maps good for quick PvP and money runs once you know them. The factory map guide and ground zero guide cover the details. On Factory there is no safe corner, so commit to aggression or extraction early.

Mid maps for questing

Customs, Woods, and Interchange are the quest backbone. The customs map guide and woods map guide are where most early quests happen, and where you learn the raid loop of loot, fight, and extract. Interchange adds verticality and long sightlines that punish the unprepared.

Big maps for loot and fear

Reserve, Shoreline, Lighthouse, Streets, and Labs are large, dangerous, and lucrative. They demand map knowledge and a kit worth losing. Do not rush them; the players who do become the loot. The extracts guide is mandatory reading before your first Reserve or Streets run.

Match the map to the goal

Questing, money, or Kappa farming each favor different maps. Pick the map that serves tonight’s goal rather than the one you feel like running, and your raids get more efficient. The quest guide tells you which map each task lives on, so you stop wandering.

Use the map to your raid plan

Before you load in, decide the one thing the raid is for and pick the map that serves it. A Customs run for a quest is not a Shoreline run for ledx, and mixing the two wastes the timer. Learn the extracts on the maps you play most so you never die one building from the exit. The extracts guide is the difference between a profitable raid and a long walk back.

Loot the right map for your level

Early on, Customs and Woods give the best ratio of safe loot to danger, while Reserve and Streets punish the undergeared with snipers and traps. The first seventy two hours page covers the opening loop that funds your first real kit. Do not chase the high-value map until your gun can answer what lives there.
