Helldivers 2 Hidden Stats: The 50 Values the UI Never Shows
The UI shows four stats: Damage, Capacity, Recoil, Fire Rate. The developer confirmed 50 hidden values per weapon, including Ergonomics and 14 for Recoil.
The four stats you see
Damage, Capacity, Recoil, and Fire Rate are the only values printed on the card. They are real, but they describe only the surface. Two guns with identical cards can feel completely different because the hidden layer diverges.
The roughly fifty you do not see
Helldivers 2 creative director Johan Pilestedt confirmed in early 2024 that each weapon carries “maybe 50 stats in total,” most of them hidden, and later admitted hiding them was “in retrospect maybe a bad call” because it was deemed too complex for players. Many of these describe the ammunition rather than the gun itself. The most consequential hidden stats:
- Ergonomics — governs how fast you aim down the sights and how unwieldy the weapon is. It appeared on an early stat page and was removed; it is now invisible.
- Reload time, muzzle velocity (in meters per second), fire modes, and magazine behavior — all shown on a second page in the pre-launch build, now gone from the UI.
- Recoil — the visible Recoil number is itself a simplification. Pilestedt explained Recoil is a combination of 14 hidden values that drive bullet spread, which is why two guns with similar Recoil cards kick so differently.
Why Arrowhead hid them
The stated reason was to avoid overwhelming players with a spreadsheet. The side effect is that players reverse-engineer their loadouts from feel and community datamines, and sometimes make a gun worse without realizing it — for example by equipping attachments that quietly raise sway. The sway and attachments page covers the clearest case of that.
What to actually do
Do not chase the hidden numbers. The practical takeaway is to test weapons against the enemies you fight: the durable damage page and the armor penetration guide tell you which damage types and AP levels matter, and those two visible-ish systems matter far more than any hidden ergonomics score.
