KCD2 Points of No Return: What Each One Locks

KCD2 has two points of no return — Necessary Evil/For Victory in Trosky and Oratores in Kuttenberg. Here is what each locks and when the warning appears.

What “point of no return” means here

It is not a single button that ends the game. It is a main-quest beat that starts a long, uninterruptible chain. During that chain you usually cannot fast travel, pass time, or return to open exploration until the chain ends. Any side quest tied to a location or NPC that the chain moves or destroys can fail or vanish. The game does show a warning before the biggest one, but the smaller ones give you only a conversation prompt.

Trosky region: Necessary Evil and For Victory

The first wall is the Necessary Evil quest. What you tell Lord von Bergow about Olda Semine decides whether a raid happens at all — the full decision tree is on the Semine choice page. Right after Necessary Evil you get one evening at Trosky Castle. Finish Demons of Trosky before that evening feast, or the quest fails. That single evening is the practical Trosky cutoff. The second Trosky wall is For Victory!. Speaking to Hans Capon in the evening starts it, and it kicks off a long chain (For Whom the Bell Tolls through Storm) that ends with Henry automatically riding to the Kuttenberg region. You can return to Trosky later by paying a caravan, but any Trosky side content you ignored is now much harder to reach. The full Trosky missable list is on the Trosky missable quests page.

Kuttenberg region: Oratores is the real wall

The major point of no return is the Oratores quest. Near its end, after the ambush on the Papal Legate, you return to Ruthard Palace — and the game shows an explicit warning that you are about to lock in the endgame. From that moment free travel stops and a long finale begins. Two things happen at Oratores that completionists must respect:

  • It automatically fails Bellatores, The Thunderstone, and The White Roebuck.
  • Sigismund’s Camp disappears from the map. Any camp quests left open — Spoils of War and The Stalker chief among them — are lost. The Kuttenberg missable quests page lists every quest that closes here, including Rosa’s Book and The Stalker, which have their own earlier deadlines.

The King’s Gambit sits between them

The King’s Gambit confines you much like For Whom the Bell Tolls did, but it does not cancel your background sidequests. You just cannot freely leave the mission area until you clear the objective. Treat it as a soft pause, not a hard cutoff.

Practical rule

Before any of these beats, open your quest log, sort by region, and clear the missables first. The quest-order checklist turns this into a one-screen to-do list you can run through region by region.
