Stealth and Thievery in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
How stealth, lockpicking, and pickpocketing work in KCD2, including the key Thievery perks: Silent Fiddler, Locksmith, and Night Crawler.
Stealth basics
Stealth unlocks the silent takedown perk at level 7, letting you knock out unaware enemies. Approaching any fight undetected and opening with a free stealth hit (the Ambusher perk adds damage to unaware targets) can drop an enemy to half health before the brawl starts. You do not need to invest deep — just enough to reach Ambusher and optionally Sandman for non-lethal options.
Lockpicking and pickpocketing
Both live under the Thievery skill. The standout perks:
- Locksmith (Thievery) — +3 to lockpicking, essential for any burglar.
- Silent Fiddler (Thievery 6) — pick locks without alerting nearby guards.
- One Way or Another (Stealth) — stealth takedowns lead to combat edges.
- Partner in Crime (Thievery 20) — sell stolen goods freely with a fence contact.
Night operations
Night Crawler (Main 12) gives +2 Strength, Agility, and Vitality at night, plus +3 Stealth — a meaningful boost for after-dark work. Combined with Nighthawk potion (night vision, see the potion guide), night raids become far safer.
The cost
Every open theft from a visible inventory damages the local town’s reputation. The Opportunist perk (Main 6) reduces reputation loss on failures, but the safest thieves steal from homes and chests where no one sees the inventory, not from a peasant’s back in the town square. ## Moving silently Crouching shrinks your noise radius, and the Rain Man perk (Stealth) makes footsteps quieter in rain — both useful for nighttime raids. Even without perks, approaching from behind and breaking line of sight is what keeps a takedown unseen. The goal is never to be the person a guard’s eye lands on while a lock clicks. Weigh the Groschen against the standing before you go loud.
