STALKER 2 Burer: Wait for the Shield to Drop
The Burer blocks bullets with debris until it attacks. Shooting the shield is wasted ammunition — the fight is about timing, not damage.
How the fight works
The shield is the whole mechanic. While it is active, damage does almost nothing. When the Burer commits to an attack, the shield drops — and that is your window. So the fight is a timing puzzle rather than a damage race, and the correct behaviour is to stop firing when the shield is up.
What to do
Stop shooting. Every round fired at the shield is a round you do not have for the window. This is the single habit that separates a cheap Burer kill from an expensive one. Use cover and wait. It will attack. When it does, the shield drops and you have a few seconds. Close the distance. At close range its attacks are shorter ranged and your window is easier to hit. Standing far away just means more ammunition spent on the shield. Do not panic-advance into an attack. Move during the exposed phase, not during the attack itself — the same rhythm as any boss in the game.
Where they are
Burers appear in underground areas and in some facilities, often in rooms with limited space. That is awkward, because the fight wants you to move. If the room is too tight, back into a corridor and let it come to you. A Burer in a doorway is a Burer you can kill with two magazines instead of six.
The ammunition point
A wrong Burer fight can cost more ammunition than a boss. That is a real economy problem, not just a tactical one — the money page covers why ammunition is the recurring cost that decides whether a session is profitable. The mutants page places the Burer among the special cases, and the combat tips page covers the general principle: the enemy that kills you is the one whose rule you did not learn.
