STALKER 2 Bloodsucker: How to Actually Kill One
The bloodsucker attacks from a direction you were not looking, and that is the whole fight. Positioning, sound cues and the weapons that work.
How the fight actually runs
The bloodsucker approaches out of sight, becomes briefly visible when it attacks, and re-enters stealth after. Your job is not to track it while invisible — that is not possible. Your job is to control the geometry so that the brief visible window is enough. That means: back to something. A wall, a rock, a truck. Every angle you eliminate is an angle it cannot use, and the fight becomes a series of frontal exchanges instead of an ambush.
Sound is the real detector
Footsteps, a hoarse breathing tell, and the sound of the invisibility breaking. In an open area, listen and rotate rather than sweeping your aim randomly. In a room, stand still and let it come to you. This is why the game’s audio matters more than its graphics — the emission page covers the other system that runs on sound cues, and the same listening habit serves both.
Weapons that work
Shotguns at close range, because the visible window is brief and you need damage per trigger pull rather than damage per second. Automatic weapons work if you can hold the burst on target for the second it is visible. Long-range rifles are the wrong tool unless you can open the engagement at distance, which usually means it has not noticed you yet. If it has, you are already in a close fight.
The mistakes
Standing in the open and spinning. You cannot see it, so spinning achieves nothing except giving it a free attack. Reloading at the wrong moment. Reload after it disengages, not during the exchange. That is the same discipline the mutant page applies to every other creature in the game. Chasing. A bloodsucker that disengages is not fleeing; it is repositioning. Follow it and you walk into the next attack.
The reliable method
Find cover, put your back to it, hold a close-range weapon with a full magazine, and let it come. Attack, shoot, re-acquire, repeat. It is not a spectacular fight — it is a disciplined one, and discipline is the only thing that reliably works against an enemy whose whole design is to punish panic.
