THE FINALS Roadmap: Season 12, Season 13, and the Cadence
THE FINALS season dates with real numbers: Season 12 Prime Time landed October 20, 2026, and Season 13 projects to January 21, 2027. Here is the cadence behind it.
THE FINALS runs on seasons, but the 2026 schedule did not follow the usual pattern. Embark planned the whole year as one project rather than three separate drops, which is why Season 12 arrived looking like a relaunch instead of a normal content update.
Here are the dates that actually matter, and how the cadence is calculated.
The season dates
| Season | Start |
|---|---|
| Season 10 | March 26, 2026 |
| Season 11 | July 9, 2026 |
| Season 12 “Prime Time” | October 20, 2026 |
| Season 13 | projected January 21, 2027 |
Only the first three are confirmed. Season 13’s date is extrapolated from season length, and Embark has not announced it — treat January 21 as an estimate, not a booking.
The gap is not fixed. Recent durations: Season 9 ran 106 days, Season 10 ran 87, Season 11 ran 103. That averages 99 days, which is where the January projection comes from. A short season like Season 10’s 87 days is why nobody should plan a break around the exact number.
Why 2026 looked different
Embark said it plainly in a September 18, 2026 developer post: “Normally we work on a season-to-season cadence. This year we planned differently.” The result was a longer runway spent deepening existing systems rather than shipping three unrelated content packs.
That shows up in Season 12. The headline items are structural, not additive: an Infiltrator Light playstyle with True Sight, a Mimic Device, and a Translocator; reworks of Monaco, Seoul, and Skyway Stadium; a destruction system where buildings sag and swing before they collapse; a permanent Light 175 / Heavy 325 HP model; and a rebuilt HUD. The Season 12 changes breakdown covers each one.
Mid-season updates are where balance lands
A season is not one drop and then silence. Embark said it would monitor balance especially closely between Updates 12.0 and 12.3, which is the practical window where weapon and gadget tuning arrives. If a gun feels wrong on day one, the fix is more likely to land in a mid-season patch than in Season 13.
Battle passes do not fully expire
Legacy battle passes from previous seasons can still be levelled with earned tokens after they close, so a missed season is a grind rather than a permanent loss. That changes the calculus on skipping a pass you are unsure about — see the battle pass guide for how the token economy works.
Where dates are actually real
The authoritative page is reachthefinals.com/patchnotes, where Embark posts developer letters and patch notes. Steam news mirrors it. Season trailers land roughly a week before a launch, and the pattern has held across Seasons 10, 11, and 12.
Ignore countdown sites that present an estimate as a confirmed date. Several publish season-end timers built from nothing but arithmetic on the previous season, and they carry an EST. label for a reason.
Cross-play means PC, PlayStation, and Xbox all move to the new season on the same day, so there is no platform-specific delay to plan around. If you are returning after a break, read the classes guide before queuing — the 2026 HP changes altered which builds survive a straight fight.
