War Thunder Achievements: Full Overview
Separate War Thunder's achievements into grind, passive, and stunt layers so you know what normal play earns and what needs setup.
War Thunder’s achievement list is not one kind of list. Some achievements are a stopwatch attached to your playtime, some arrive while you are doing something else, and a small set exist purely to make you do something absurd on purpose. Sort them before chasing any of them. The store page shows the current list; treat it as the source of truth, since displayed counts do not always match what data trackers report.
Layer 1: the grind (no strategy exists)
| Achievement family | What it demands |
|---|---|
| Rank wins | Wins at every rank tier, one hundred each |
| Nation orders | Fifty vehicles ordered per nation |
| Aces | One hundred kills each across more than twenty nations |
| Hours played | Milestones at ten, one hundred, two hundred fifty, five hundred, and one thousand hours |
These are stopwatches. No route, farm, or guide shortens them; you either play the game or you do not. The only decisions worth making are which nations you already play anyway (the new nation grind framework tells you when that is a bad idea) and whether you enjoy winning at low ranks (how BR decides matches explains why those wins slow down as ranks climb).
Layer 2: the passive layer (normal play, planned)
These arrive on their own if you play the modes involved, and stack if you plan your mode rotation instead of queueing randomly:
| Achievement family | How to make it passive |
|---|---|
| Single-player missions | Fifty Assault-style missions clear themselves if PvE is part of your rotation |
| First-class | Perform at the top of the results screen; comes to players who already play to win |
| Mode win counts (fifty wins each) | Pick two modes you enjoy and let wins accumulate instead of chasing all of them |
The trick is alignment, not effort: these go to players whose normal rotation already includes the mode, not to players forcing themselves through an unfun mode for a badge.
Layer 3: the stunt layer (deliberate setups)
A small set requires something specific and unusual: shoot down an aircraft with a tank cannon, hit a target with a guided bomb from extreme range, survive your own death long enough to score a kill. These are real projects with setups and combo opportunities, and they get their own page: War Thunder hard trophies.
Is full completion worth it?
Full completion is a time question, not a skill question:
| Factor | How it scales |
|---|---|
| Hours-played achievements | One thousand hours of playtime, unavoidable |
| Rank and order achievements | Multiply by how many nations you already play |
| Ace achievements | Multiply again; twenty-plus nations is a lifestyle |
| Stunt achievements | Hours of deliberate setup, not playtime |
Build your own estimate: hours per week times the nations you will actually maintain, plus a setup block for the stunt layer. If that number excites you, chase it; if it reads like a chore, the sane target is the passive layer plus whichever stunt achievements fit vehicles you already enjoy. Achievements do not pay the repair bill; the Silver Lions economy rewards focused play either way.
