ARC Raiders Extraction Explained: Elevators, Trains, Hatches
Extraction is the only step that turns a raid into progress. How elevators, train stations, air shafts and Raider Hatches work, plus the timing trap.
In ARC Raiders, reaching an extraction point is the only action that converts a successful search or fight into lasting inventory. Everything you scavenge, craft toward, or kill for stays at risk until you actually leave the map. Get knocked out before you extract and the gear you were carrying does not come home with you. A full backpack you cannot get out with is worth nothing.
The raid clock
Every raid lasts at most 30 minutes. You deploy from Speranza alone or in a squad of up to three, work the surface, and then decide when the risk of staying outweighs the value of one more crate. Most experienced players extract well before the timer expires because the last minutes are when everyone converges on the same exits.
The three extraction types
Extraction points appear as one of three forms depending on the map:
- Elevators — found at The Dam and the Spaceport. The activation console sits just outside the elevator.
- Train stations — found at the Buried City. They have multiple entrances leading to the same station, and the activation console is underground, against the gated train tracks.
- Air shafts — found at the Blue Gate. The console is directly outside the shaft.
How the sequence works
When you reach a point and activate its console, a warning sound plays that alerts nearby ARC machines and other Raiders that someone is extracting. It takes about 15 seconds for the point to open. You then go inside and use a secondary console to leave early, or wait — the point leaves automatically about two minutes after the first person enters. Crucially, if one person uses the console, everyone inside can extract safely, so you do not need the whole squad at the machine.
Raider Hatches: the timer-free exit
Besides the regular points, Raider Hatches let you extract with no time limit and no wait. They require a Raider Hatch Key, which you can earn from the Hatch Repair quest or buy from Shani’s shop. The hatch key guide covers the cost and level gate. A hatch opens immediately and returns you to Speranza with everything, which makes it the safest exit when you are pinned or short on time.
Surviving the wait
Because the warning sound draws attention, treat the approach as its own phase. Find cover — rocks, vehicles, walls, debris — and clear the small fast drones like Wasps and Hornets before you call extraction. The most common extraction failures are being eliminated before the sequence finishes, triggering the wrong interaction, leaving before the departure completes, or leaving a quest item in a container instead of carrying it out. For the quest side of “carry it out,” see the extract-with rule, and for pacing the 30-minute time budget.
