ARC Raiders Riven Tides: The Hardest Map, Sometimes
Riven Tides opens at 20 rounds and carries the highest difficulty rating in the game — except under one condition, when it drops to starter tier.
The rating is conditional
Under Lush Blooms, Riven Tides drops to roughly the same base grade as Dam Battlegrounds, the starter zone. The layout does not change. The enemies do not change. What changes is how the map is populated and what you are meant to be doing on it. That makes Lush Blooms the cheapest way to learn Riven Tides. Take a throwaway loadout, spend the whole raid walking the coast instead of fighting, and learn where the resort’s buildings sit relative to the shoreline. Come back under normal weather with a kit you can afford to lose, and the map is already half-known.
Why the normal version is rated so high
The layout is exposed. A harbor resort means open sand, long water lines of sight, and buildings that only protect you from one direction. Rotations happen in the open, and an open rotation is a gift to anyone holding height or a scope. The second reason is convergence. Riven Tides concentrates players because it concentrates objectives: the set piece — a Stacking Yard puzzle — sits in the north-east while the hotel dominates the south-west. Two named landmarks, one map, and everyone heading for one of them. The steps of the puzzle are not documented in official material, so treat it as an event you scout rather than a solution you memorise, and never stand still in the open reading a container.
Six conditions, six different maps
Riven Tides cycles more conditions than most maps: Lush Blooms, Beachcombing, Uncovered Caches, Prospecting Probes, Husk Graveyard and Night Raid. Two of them are loot-dense (Uncovered Caches, Husk Graveyard), two are gathering routes (Lush Blooms, Beachcombing), one is a fight (Prospecting Probes), and one removes your hatches (Night Raid). That is why “is Riven Tides worth it” has no fixed answer. Under Husk Graveyard it is a parts farm. Under Night Raid it is a locked-door run with no hatch exit. Check the condition system before you commit gear, and read the banner on the select screen rather than the star rating.
How to actually run it
Go in with a named purpose — a quest item, a specific event, a planned high-value route — and leave when that purpose is served. The map punishes unfocused first looks because the unfocused look is exactly what puts you in the open at the wrong moment. Extraction is limited to fixed points plus hatches, so pick your exit before you fill the bag. The extraction sequence is worth a re-read, because a coastal map with long sightlines is the worst place to discover that activation is a fifteen-second broadcast to everyone nearby. Compare the unlock order in the map ladder before you assume higher unlock means harder.
