Destiny 2 Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition explained
No edition called Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition exists in Destiny 2. Here is what the real 2026 editions include before you buy.
There is no Destiny 2 edition called Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition. If a store listing or a friend’s screenshot mentioned one, they mixed up the Prophecy dungeon with a bundle name.
What the search is reaching for
Prophecy is a real part of Destiny 2. It is a free dungeon that rotates into the weekly slot and can be soloed. It has never shipped as its own edition, and there is no Year of Prophecy release to buy.
Our Prophecy dungeon guide covers the encounters if that is what you were after.
What Destiny 2 sells in 2026
The current paid releases are The Edge of Fate and Renegades. Both are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. They add destinations and campaigns, plus raids you cannot get any other way.
The free baseline is New Light. It covers the core loop and a slice of endgame, and you can put hundreds of hours into it without spending money. Our is it free guide draws the exact line between the two.
Why the confusion happens
Destiny 2 has shipped many bundles over the years. Forsaken, Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen each had standard and deluxe versions. Old storefront screenshots keep circulating long after those bundles disappear.
The current store list is short, so read it once and you are done. Anything beyond Edge of Fate and Renegades is old stock, not a new release.
Should you buy the old packs
Beyond Light is the classic pick for a new account. It added Europa, the Stasis subclass, and the Deep Stone Crypt raid. That content still works, and it fills more hours than its sale price suggests.
Skip the older packs if you only want current endgame. Their loot falls behind the power curve, so you would buy them for the campaign, not the gear.
Check what you already own
Open the Destiny 2 store page inside your client. Owned content shows as installed or ready to download. Anything missing shows a price instead of a launch button.
Play the New Light intro before you spend anything. It takes a few hours and tells you whether the paid loop suits you.
