Destiny 2 Bright Dust: Weekly Caps and the Fastest Sources

How to earn Bright Dust in Destiny 2 after Monument of Triumph: weekly caps, Order payouts, the Triumphant pass, and Focusing costs

Bright Dust is the free cosmetic currency in Destiny 2. It buys Eververse items without spending Silver, and after the Monument of Triumph update almost every source changed. If you are returning, the old habits no longer work.

The weekly routine

Most Bright Dust now comes from the Seasonal Hub. It runs on a payout system with hard caps:

  • Common Order Payouts pay 10 each.
  • Legendary Order Payouts pay 100 each.
  • Common and Legendary payouts share one weekly cap of 1,000. After that, Common pays nothing and Legendary pays 10.
  • Exotic Order Payouts pay 200 each, up to 6,000 per season. After the seasonal cap they pay 30.

The weekly reward track also pays a 1,000 Bright Dust chunk at its top rank. Vanguard Alerts pay 250 each, and both the Arena Ops alert and the Crucible alert are worth running.

Daily Challenges refresh every day and pay a smaller amount. They are quick, so clear them while you queue for something else.

The permanent track

The Triumphant Rewards Pass never expires. Its free track pays Bright Dust at several tiers, roughly 14,000 in total, and you can claim those tiers whenever you want. There is no rush. The paid track also pays the Turncoat exotic hand cannon at level 1, while the free track pays it at level 70.

What to buy

Eververse runs a Focusing system with no duplicate RNG:

  • 300 Bright Dust focuses legendary shaders, Ghosts, ships, and vehicles.
  • 600 Bright Dust focuses exotic Ghosts, ships, emotes, and finishers.
  • 900 Bright Dust focuses exotic weapon and armor ornaments.

Save for the 900 tier if you want a specific exotic ornament. Burning Dust on random shaders is the classic mistake.

Bright dust caps players keep missing

  • Ignoring the Exotic payout cap. It is the biggest single source at 6,000 per season.
  • Letting the Triumphant track pile up unclaimed.
  • Spending on featured bundles instead of focusing one item you want.
