Destiny 2 Zero Hour: Floor Puzzle and Full Run
Zero Hour's tile floor kills you with no warning. Here is how the route is chosen, how to cross safely, and what the run rewards.
You are ten minutes into Legend Zero Hour, the timer is already unkind, and you step onto a floor tile. Nothing shoots you. You die anyway.
That room ends most runs. Here is what is actually happening in it.
Why does the floor kill me?
The tile floor before the vault is electrified. Safe tiles sit in a fixed pattern, and everything else is lethal on contact.
How many patterns are there?
Six. The route is chosen by two things at once: your difficulty and the mission’s active elemental threat.
Normal and Legend use different routes for the same element. Running the Normal route on Legend kills you partway across, which is the classic failure.
Where is the clue?
On Normal there is a diagram on a wall in the room before the floor. Read it before you step out.
Legend has no diagram at all. You need the route before you arrive, or you burn the timer guessing.
Can I just sprint across?
No. Momentum carries you past a safe tile onto a lethal one. Walk, and release the stick between turns.
Grapples, sword swings, and skating do the same thing in a bigger way. Leave movement tech at the door.
How do I find which threat is active?
Open the mission in the Director and read the modifiers above the mission name. The threat cycles, so yesterday’s route is not today’s.
Launching through the Portal can hide it. Players have reached the floor with no threat shown and guessed wrong.
If the launch screen does not name a threat, do not infer one from the other modifiers. Look for an explicit indicator, or check a current community source first.
How does the rest of the fireteam cross?
Send one player across alone. There is a switch on the far side that shuts the floor off.
Hit it before anyone else moves. Reaching the far side does not pull your team over.
Where do I even start the mission?
Zero Hour is an Exotic mission, and Bungie has moved where it lives more than once. Check the Director’s Exotic or Legends tab.
Also check your quest log for a step pointing at it. If nothing appears anywhere, you are probably missing an unlock step rather than the mission itself.
Read the quest text instead of guessing.
What does it give me?
The run awards Outbreak Perfected, the Exotic pulse rifle that stacks nanites on sustained hits. It is worth the trip.
The catalyst comes from the Legend version. Legend is timed and unforgiving, so attempt it only once the route feels familiar.
The rest of the mission
Bring add clear and one answer for shields. The mission throws mixed elemental shields at you inside tight corridors.
Do the vault puzzles after the floor, not before. The sequence is fixed, and backtracking eats the timer.
The prep habit for timed runs transfers from other endgame content. The raids how to prepare guide covers what to sort before you launch.
Exotic missions share space with other Exotic sources. The how to get exotics guide explains where else they drop.
Solo is possible and common on Normal difficulty. The solo player guide has loadout habits that help if you have no fireteam.
