Destiny 2 How to Get Exotics: Kiosk, Quests, Xur
Exotics in Destiny 2 come from the Kiosk, quests, Xur, and engrams. Map the easiest paths to your first real upgrades.
New players treat Exotics as mystery loot and miss the easy ones. In Destiny 2, the best early Exotic is sitting in the Tower waiting for you.
Start at the exotic kiosk
Start at the Exotic Kiosk. It lets you claim Exotics you have already unlocked, including Witherhoard, the persistent blight launcher covered in the best exotic weapons guide.
Quests and Xur weekends
Quests hand out Exotics too. Story and seasonal quests often end in one, so follow the active quest instead of skipping it. The new Light first steps guide shows where to look.
Xur appears on weekends. He sells one exotic armor piece per class and a weapon, plus an engram. Mark his location on the director each Friday.
Engrams and powerful rewards
Engrams can decrypt into Exotics. Higher reward tiers raise your odds, and the Power leveling guide explains how each tier works.
Exotic armor is the build engine. The exotic armor guide lists the one piece worth farming first per class.
Do not buy Exotics from nowhere. Confirm what you own at the Kiosk before spending any currency or materials.
Store your duplicates with care. The vault guide helps you keep the right rolls without drowning in space.
Exotic quests and ciphers
Seasonal vendors rotate exotic quests. Check the Tower and the current hub each week so you do not miss a time-limited claim.
Exotic ciphers buy older exotics at the kiosk. Farm a few from the weekly mission before you chase the newest gun.
Duplicate exotics still have value. Dismantle them for an upgrade material that powers the exotic you actually plan to use.
Clan bonuses and lost sectors
Legendary lost sectors once dropped exotic armor, but the live method shifts. Check the in-game director for the current exotic source each season.
Clan bonuses can boost exotic drop rates slightly. Join a casual clan if you want steadier luck without a strict raid schedule.
Keep your quest log clean so new exotic quests appear. A full log can hide the very reward you are farming for.
The fastest path is the Kiosk for weapons and Xur for armor. Map both and your first real upgrades arrive within a weekend.
