Vlinder Guide: Rescue Drones and Squad Timers

She stretches the window before a teammate dies and sends drones to revive them. How to buy time when a body is out of reach.

Vlinder (Lina Van der Meer) is a Support operator who buys time rather than health. Other supports heal you back up; she is the one who makes sure there is still something to heal, by stretching how long a downed teammate stays recoverable.

That makes her the best operator in the game at the specific moment a squad is losing — which is when most squads actually need help.

Timers, not heals

Bio Scan extends the down and death timers of her squadmates, and lets her see teammates and their health through walls.

Read the second half of that as a priority engine. You can rank every body on the field by remaining time without leaving cover, which means you already know which rescue is urgent and which one can wait. Most squads rescue the nearest body; Vlinder can rescue the one with the least time left.

The extended timer is a multiplier on the standard one, so plan the rescue around how much slack it adds rather than around a fixed number.

Flutter UAV interception

Flutter Rescue UAVs release several drones that seek friendly units automatically and inject plasma to assist the revive. Each drone can also intercept one instance of explosive damage.

Two uses follow. The obvious one is reviving someone you cannot walk to — across a street, behind a wall, under fire. The less obvious one is throwing the drones at a squadmate who is about to eat a grenade: the interception turns one explosion into a non-event.

Send them at the player who is both downed and likely to be finished. A drone spent on a body the enemy is not watching is a drone you will want two seconds later.

Med Drone uptime

Med Drones lock onto and track squadmates and heal them continuously for a short window. Unlike the rescue drones, these work on players who are still upright.

The trap is treating them as a fire-and-forget. They track a specific person, so deploy them at the player about to re-peek, not at the squad in general. Also note they are healing, not damage reduction — standing in the open under a med drone still gets you killed.

Bio Scan wall vision

The through-wall readout earns its own habit: before you push, look at the squad health bars. Two players at half health and one at full is a push you should not take. Soloing a fight while the squad is stable is a push you should.

Rescue order

When three bodies are down and everything is on fire, the order is: lowest remaining timer first, then the player whose operator can stabilise the situation, then the rest. Reviving the Assault player because they were closest is how squads lose objectives.

The Windmill Smoke Grenade steers after it is thrown, so use it to seal the sightline between the enemy and the rescue rather than to cover your own approach. Pair her with Stinger for healing volume and Toxik for the sustain buffs that keep bodies off the floor in the first place.
