GTA 6 Trailer 3: The Video People Mean, and What It Shows

Rockstar never released a video called Trailer 3. The 26-minute Extended Look and the October Launch Trailer are the two you are looking for.

Search engines still take “GTA 6 Trailer 3” as a serious query, which is fair, because a third trailer is what the first two implied. The video exists. The label does not, and that gap is where a lot of invented detail gets attached to a title Rockstar never used.

The rail on Rockstar’s own page settles it

Go to the GTA VI site and look at the video selector. It prints “Trailer 1” and “Trailer 2”, each with its number. The third entry is printed as “An Extended Look” with no number at all. Rockstar had the one place where numbering would matter most and chose not to number it, which is as close to an official answer as this gets.

The release order

  • Trailer 1 — December 4, 2023, 1:31.
  • Trailer 2 — May 6, 2025, 2:47.
  • An Extended Look — August 27, 2026, 26:48. Premiered on Netflix at 3pm ET, then on YouTube and rockstargames.com at 9pm ET after a short exclusivity window.
  • Launch Trailer — October 15, 2026.

Rockstar announced the Extended Look on August 6, 2026. Gameplay material leaked from around August 18, and Rockstar issued a statement on August 26, the day before the premiere.

What the 26 minutes contain

The Extended Look is not a cut trailer. It is sustained footage with a narrator-free structure that follows Jason and Lucia around Leonida, and Rockstar’s own caption states it was “captured entirely from in-game footage on the PlayStation 5” — the base console, not the Pro.

The sequence runs through an interrupted pickup, a car theft, a party, a gas station robbery, a pursuit, a leisure montage around Bayside, a convenience store job, a leap from a tower and a security job that ends in a firefight. Along the way the footage shows instant switching between the two leads while they stand together, a six-star wanted level, the weapon wheel and a slow-motion targeting ability used mid-shootout.

Push Square’s catalogue of the same video adds what you would otherwise miss: prompt-driven conversations with pedestrians closer to Red Dead Redemption 2 than GTA 5, free-aim shooting from cover, a three-dimensional minimap that does not mark police by default, and side activities away from missions — street racing, jet skis, scuba diving, basketball, car meets. Those are observations of a published video, not a feature list from Rockstar.

The Launch Trailer

The October 15 video is the short one, cut to music, and that music is new work from Justice, the pair credited with the game’s original score. It arrives a month before release, which makes it the last big marketing beat before preload.

Why the naming is worth defending

“Rockstar confirmed it in Trailer 3” is a sentence about a video that does not exist, and it is almost always attached to a detail nobody confirmed. Reading the Extended Look as what it is — an unedited walkthrough of systems in a development build — keeps you from treating a viewer’s label for a mechanic as Rockstar’s own terminology. The characters page and the map guide both sort observation from statement the same way.
