Helldivers 2 Armor Passives: What Suit Effects Do

Helldivers 2 armor passives are unquantified: Democracy Protect saves half of lethal hits, Servo-Assisted adds throw range, Fortified cuts blast damage.

Democracy Protect

The most famous hidden effect: roughly a 50 percent chance to survive any hit that would otherwise be lethal. It is the passive players cite whenever they walk out of an explosion that should have killed them. It does not prevent the hit, only the death.

Servo-Assisted

Adds throw range for stratagem beacons and grenades, and increases limb health so you can take more limb shots before a limb is disabled. A strong pick for players who throw a lot of orbitals.

Extra Padding

Adds armor rating (commonly cited around 50), making you tougher overall. Straightforward survivability for front-line play.

Engineering Kit

Increases the capacity of your Resupply boxes (more ammo and stims per call) and often your grenade capacity. Valuable on support-heavy builds.

Scout

Reduces the distance at which enemies detect you, making stealth approaches and sample farming quieter.

Infantry

Reduces recoil, which helps controllable automatic fire.

Fortified

Reduces damage taken from explosions and lowers the recoil of support weapons you carry. A common pick against Automatons, where rockets and cannons are everywhere. These passives live in the same hidden layer as the hidden weapon stats; the names appear, the numbers do not, so the community values above are the best public estimate. They are paid for by the samples economy, which funds the ship modules that complement a good passive.

Only the chest piece matters

A passive comes only from the armor chest piece, so your helmet and leg choices are about armor rating and not a second passive — do not expect stacking. Pick the chest passive for the fight you are walking into: Democracy Protect for reckless diving, Fortified against bots, Scout for sample runs. New Warbonds keep adding passives, so check each armor’s named effect before committing samples to the matching module.
