Hunt: Showdown Best Hunter Build (2026): Traits & Guns

Necromancer plus a Winfield M1873C loadout carries solo and duo. The trait order that matters more than your weapon choice in Hunt: Showdown.

The most reliable Hunt build is not the most expensive one — it is the loadout plus trait order that keeps you alive and lets you rebuild after death. Weapon choice is secondary to trait priority and sound discipline, especially in your first 20 hours.

The default build that works for everyone

  • Winfield M1873C (compact ammo, take Levering for hip-fire) + Caldwell Conversion (FMJ) + knife + lockpicks + First Aid Kit + Vitality Shot.
  • Trait order (first 10 points): Necromancer (4, burn trait, solo self-revive) → Resilience (3, full-HP revive) → Vigilant (1, traps/dark) → Vulture (2, loot speed + Hunt Dollars). Spend the rest on what fits your playstyle.

This build is cheap to replace, covers close and medium range, and Necromancer alone saves more hunters than any gun upgrade early.

Specialized builds

  • Solo pressure: Sparks LRR (149 damage) + Bornheim No.3. The first hit leaves a hunter at 1 HP; the fast sidearm finishes. Fire, relocate, reload behind cover.
  • Budget close-range: Romero 77 ($34) + Caldwell Conversion or Scottfield Spitfire to cover the reload.
  • Long-range: Mosin-Nagant 1891 + Officer or Dolch 96 for fast follow-up when a target closes distance.
  • Dual Pistol (Fanning): dual Caldwell Conversions or Officer Nagants — lethal inside 15 m, but the spread is unpredictable.
  • Crossbow stealth: nearly silent, one-shot to the upper chest, poison bolts for AI clearing — pure ambush.
  • Bomb Lance (A-tier): kills most bosses in under 30 seconds and one-shots hunters on a direct stick; best in trios where teammates cover your approach.
  • Sparky: Sparks + hand crossbow — body shot leaves 1 HP, bolt finishes instantly.

The judgment that matters

Necromancer, Resilience, Vigilant and Vulture are the traits that keep you in the match and rebuild your economy; offensive perks come later. Pair the right range coverage (long ammo primary + compact or shotgun secondary) and let sound discipline — not raw damage — win the fight.
