Hunt: Showdown Best Weapons Tier List (2026)

Mosin, Sparks LRR and Romero 77 lead for damage; Winfield M1873C is the budget king. The best Hunt weapon covers the range your primary cannot.

Hunt is won by sound, sightlines, recovery time, ammo economy, and whether your secondary covers the range your primary cannot — not by raw damage alone. Long-ammo rifles dominate open sightlines, but every option asks for a different tempo, and the best loadout is built around coverage rather than one “best” gun.

The S-tier picks

Mosin-Nagant M1891 (136 damage). The safest premium recommendation: fast bolt cycle, long ammo, roughly 400 m/s muzzle velocity. The 2026 change is ammunition — Mosin variants now use Special Long Ammo (shared with Krag, Lebel, Berthier) that cannot be replenished from normal Long Ammo sources, so missing speculative shots is far more punishing. Bring ammo boxes or a compact secondary.

Sparks LRR (149 damage). The single-shot long-ammo rifle with the most punishing body-shot pressure — a healthy hunter hit in the chest is left one tap from almost any follow-up. The slow reload is the balancing cost, so it rewards information-led play, not panic dueling.

Romero 77. The longest one-hit-kill range of any shotgun (about 15 m), and at $34 the cheapest, most reliable close-range option. Its single shell forces discipline: fire only when your reticle is on the torso.

Vetterli 71 Karabiner (130 damage). The cleanest A-tier path to consistent kills — manageable recoil, strong value, good mid-range.

The budget king

Winfield M1873C ($35–$56). Compact ammo is cheap and plentiful, the lever action is fast, and it is the weapon most new hunters use for their first 50 matches. You will not outgrow it as a learning rifle. The Springfield 1886 ($33–$73) is the budget marksman alternative.

Supporting options

  • Caldwell Rival 78 — two quick shells; more forgiving than the Romero up close (about 12 m).
  • Centennial / Lebel 1886 / Berthier 1892 — A-tier long-ammo rifles for different follow-up speeds.
  • Auto-5 — a semi-auto shotgun; the first shot misses and the rapid follow-up finishes the fight indoors.
  • Caldwell Conversion — the value sidearm; with Fanning it is lethal inside 15 m.

The judgment that matters

Two details beat “buy the most expensive gun”: ammo type matters more than price (compact ammo is everywhere, long ammo hits harder but spawns less, medium is the safe beginner choice), and headshots always kill in Hunt — so even the cheapest budget weapon wins in the right hands. The “Sparky” combo (Sparks body shot leaves 1 HP, then a hand crossbow bolt finishes) is the most lethal budget loadout.
