Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Haggling: Prices You Can Move
Every trader price in this game is a negotiation. How the bargaining check works and when walking away is the best offer.
Prices are not fixed
Traders in this game negotiate. The listed price is an opening position, and the bargaining skill decides how far you can move it. Ignoring the haggle is leaving money on every transaction, in both directions. That applies to selling as well as buying, which is where most players lose the most.
The bargaining check
Haggling is a skill check with a visible outcome: success improves the price, failure leaves it worse or ends the negotiation. Your reputation with the trader and the surrounding area influences how generous the check is. So the practical rule is to haggle with traders you have dealt with before, in towns where you are liked, and to accept the first offer elsewhere.
What to sell where
Different traders want different goods. Selling a sword to a blacksmith gets a better price than selling it to a grocer, and selling food to an innkeeper beats selling it to an armourer. Matching goods to trader type is worth more than any bargaining skill at low levels.
Stolen goods and fences
Stolen items cannot be sold openly. Fences buy them, at a worse rate, and the transaction carries risk. That discount is the real cost of theft, and it should be part of the decision before you steal anything.
When to walk away
If a trader’s offer is bad and the haggle failed, leaving is free. Prices do not get worse for walking out, and coming back later with higher reputation produces a better check. The exception is a unique item you need now. Paying the bad price for a piece of equipment that unlocks a quest is usually correct.
The economy habit
Check the price, haggle once, and sell goods where they belong. That routine produces a noticeable income difference over a playthrough without any grinding, and it costs three seconds per transaction.
