How to Make Money Early in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Early Groschen methods in KCD2: alchemy as an income engine, selling loot, treasure maps, and quest rewards — without grinding or exploits.

Alchemy is the engine

This is the repeatable winner. Lion Perfume (Spiritus + 2 Sage + 2 Mint) uses herbs that grow free in Emmerich’s garden in Troskowitz — brew a stack, drink one before haggling, sell the rest. Marigold Decoction and excess Saviour Schnapps also sell steadily. Because herbs are free and the recipes are simple, alchemy snowballs once your Alchemy skill hits 6–8. The Secret of Equilibrium perk (Alchemy 8) raises potion quality, and the Routine perk (unlocked after one manual brew) lets you auto-brew batches, turning a few minutes at a cauldron into a pile of Groschen.

Sell what you loot

Bandits drop gear you can fence. Steal carefully (see the reputation guide — open theft hurts town standing) or loot corpses from fights you win legitimately. Weapons and armor sell for more than raw materials.

Treasure maps and finds

Hidden stashes and treasure maps scatter across both regions. They are one-off payouts, but they fund early gear upgrades. Explorer (Scholarship) reveals points of interest on the map, which makes hunting them down efficient.

Quest rewards

Main and side quests pay, and some optional objectives reward cash or gear. Working through the quest order naturally funds you better than aimless grinding. The throughline: invest a little in Alchemy early, sell surplus potions and clean loot, and let treasure maps top you up. ## A simple early loop The repeatable circuit is: gather sage and mint from Emmerich’s garden, brew Lion Perfume, sell the surplus, and reinvest in a few Marigold Decoctions to sell or use. One cauldron session can fund a piece of mid-tier armor. Avoid sinking hours into treasure hunting before your Alchemy is online — the potion loop compounds faster than one-off map payouts. You do not need to break the economy to afford decent plate.
