Space Marine 2 Assault Class Guide

The Assault class turns the jump pack into a weapon. Drop from above, ground-pound the cluster, and clear the air. A guide to the most aggressive class in the game.

The jump pack defines the class

Assault’s jump pack is both mobility and offense. You can leap over a horde, reposition to a weak flank, or slam down with a ground-pound that staggers everything nearby. The jump pack page details the timing, but the habit is simpler: stay airborne when the ground is dangerous, land when you have a target. The classes overview frames Assault as the frontline brawler, and the jump pack is what lets that brawler choose every engagement.

Ground pound is crowd control, not just damage

The slam staggers Minoris and sets up executions for the squad. Used well, it resets a swarm that was about to overwhelm a teammate. Treat it as a reset button, not a kill move, and you will survive far longer. The perks guide lists perks that extend air time and slam radius. Those are worth taking, because more air time means more control over where the fight happens.

Melee is your real weapon

Assault is a melee class with a pistol, not a ranged class that can also fight up close. Your chainsword or power weapon does the work; the gun is for the gap before you reach them. Players who try to shoot their way through an Operation as Assault run out of options the moment ammo does. Close fast, hit hard, and use the jump pack to break away when a target is too healthy to finish.

Watch your landing

The risk of Assault is committing to a slam and landing in the middle of more enemies than you can handle. Pick the landing zone before you leap, and keep an exit in mind. A badly placed ground pound is how an Assault trades a winning position for a quick death. The class rewards aggression only when that aggression is aimed. Random leaping is just feeding the horde.
