Space Marine 2 Assault Jump Pack Build

How the Assault's Jump Pack works as both attack and defence in Space Marine 2, why the class has no primary, and how to cut its high death rate.

The Jump Pack

The Assault’s signature ability gives enhanced dashes and leaps, including a leap into the sky that crashes down as a ground pound to scatter foes. There is no primary weapon — just a sidearm and some of the hardest-hitting melee in the game (Chainsword, Power Fist, Thunder Hammer). The class is built to jump into the middle and hammer down, which is exactly why it dies so often: it is always where the danger is.

Using the jump as defence

The leap is also your escape. When a red attack is coming or you are surrounded, a well-timed jump repositions you to a flank or out of a sweep entirely. Treat the Jump Pack as a reset button as much as a gap-closer — the players who survive Lethal are the ones who jump out of bad engagements, not just into them.

Armour and survival

The Assault has three armour segments, which is forgiving, but its playstyle bleeds them fast because it lives in melee. Gun Strikes from perfect parries are its main armour refill, so parry discipline matters more here than for a ranged class. The Duellist prestige perk (+25% perfect parry and block windows) is a strong pick for an Assault leaning on melee counters.

Play it as a hammer, not a hero

Jump in, delete a priority target or scatter a cluster with the ground pound, then use the next jump to leave before the swarm answers. Three melee classes in one squad fails on Lethal because nobody answers ranged floaters — the Assault should pair with a Tactical or Heavy who can. For the defensive base, read parry timing by defence type and blue vs red attacks. The armour segments page explains the three-segment cushion, and the classes overview places the Assault among the other five.
