Space Marine 2 Bulwark Class Guide

The Bulwark is the wall the squad hides behind. Shield up, banner down, and the line holds. A guide to the class built for survival and team support.

The shield is a position, not a reflex

Bulwark’s shield blocks frontal damage and lets you walk into fire that would delete anyone else. The mistake is dropping it the instant you want to swing. Hold the shield to control space, lower it only to punish a staggered enemy, then raise it again. The chapter banner page covers the support half of the kit. The classes overview lists Bulwark as the defensive anchor, and that anchor only holds if you treat the shield as your default state.

The banner keeps the squad alive

Deploying the banner heals and buffs nearby teammates, which makes Bulwark the best class for dragging a wounded squad through a hard wave. Place it where the fight will be, not where it was, and the whole team benefits from the contested health window it opens. The contested health page explains why that window matters. Bulwark creates it on demand.

Bulwark controls, it does not race

Your job is to stand between the horde and the squishy classes, not to chase kills across the map. A Bulwark who leaves the line to farm executions leaves the squad exposed. Hold the choke, let the damage dealers work behind you, and the Operation gets simpler for everyone. This is the most beginner-friendly class for a reason: position and patience beat reflexes.

Know your limits against Extremis

The shield blocks, but Extremis and Terminus enemies hit hard enough to stagger through it. Do not try to solo a boss on the front line. Block to buy time, then let the squad’s focused fire end the threat while you keep the smaller enemies off them. Bulwark wins by making the fight slower and safer, not by out-damaging it.
