Destiny 2 Clans Guide: Joining, Clan Engrams, and Perks

How Destiny 2 clans work: finding an active clan, weekly clan engrams, clan XP, and what clan membership actually gives you

Clans are the most ignored system in Destiny 2, and they are free rewards for ten minutes of effort. An active clan hands you weekly engrams, teaching partners, and a place to ask questions without posting in global chat.

Why join one

Clan membership gives you a weekly clan engram once the clan earns enough XP that week. It also puts you on a roster of people who play the same activities you do. For a new player, that is the fastest route into raids and dungeons, because clans run teaching nights regularly.

Finding a clan

The easiest path is the clan banner you see in the Tower. Ask in world chat, or use the LFG and Fireteam Finder when the roster is quiet. Look for three things when you evaluate a clan:

  • An active weekly player count, not a huge inactive roster.
  • A stated time zone and play schedule that matches yours.
  • A willingness to teach, not just endgame requirement lists.

What to do as a member

  1. Check the clan page each week and claim the engram if it is available.
  2. Run activities with clanmates when their schedule overlaps yours.
  3. Ask questions in clan chat before you ask in global.

Clan XP comes from normal play, so you do not have to change what you run. Just make sure the clan is active enough to hit the weekly reward threshold.

Reading a clan before you join

A clan page shows member count, but count alone tells you nothing. Look at how many members played in the last week. A 50-member clan where twenty people log in beats a 100-member clan where three do. Active clans also post their event schedule, which tells you when to show up if you want a raid team on Friday night.

Clan choices that leave rewards unclaimed

  • Joining a massive inactive clan for the roster number.
  • Never claiming the weekly clan engram.
  • Staying solo for months, then struggling to find a first raid team.
