Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph: What Changed and What to Do
Monument of Triumph (Update 9.7.0) reset Destiny 2 in 2026: new power caps, Legendary Marks, Tenet vendors, and a first-hour checklist
Update 9.7.0, called Monument of Triumph, landed on June 9, 2026. It changed almost everything about how you play and what you chase. Bungie has said no further live-service content updates are planned, and everything in the game now stays. If you left before the update, this page is your map.
What actually changed
The season structure is gone. Old limited-time events like the Dawning, Festival of the Lost, Guardian Games, and Solstice no longer run on a calendar. Their weapons sit at the Tenet of Bravery as endless engrams. Each one costs 2 Legendary Marks. There is no weekly cap and no time limit.
Power was re-scaled. Everyone starts at 10. The soft cap is 100, the gear cap is 300, and the artifact pushes the hard cap to 550. Activity clears now grade your run B, A, S, or S+. An untimed Ultimate tier sits above Grandmaster and is not matchmade.
Legacy currencies were retired. Legendary Shards and planetary materials no longer exist and are not needed for anything.
Your first hour back
- Go to the Tower and open the Special Deliveries kiosk between Banshee-44 and Rahool. Claim 50 Legendary Marks, two Bright Engrams, and the Toast to the Monument emblem.
- Walk to the Monument in the Tower Courtyard and start its introductory quest.
- Buy one 2-Mark engram from the Tenet of Bravery. That single purchase unlocks all four Tenet vendors.
- Run the Scenic Spot Triumphs on every destination. They need no combat and pay 10 Marks each. This is the fastest early money in the game.
- Run Sparrow Racing League. It is permanent now, and it pays Triumphs plus weapon drops.
Where things live now
The Director was rebuilt into the Navigator. Legacy playlists run inside Arena Ops with unified matchmaking. Nightfalls and other hard content sit in the Fireteam Ops hub. Pathfinder tracks cover Vanguard Ops, Crucible, and Gambit rewards. Distortions are hourly high-density combat zones on patrol destinations. Pantheon reworks old raid bosses into a permanent endgame activity.
If you need a group, use the in-game Fireteam Finder on the roster screen. It is faster than posting outside the game.
What to chase
The Triumphant Rewards Pass is permanent and never expires. Its free track pays the Turncoat exotic hand cannon at level 70. The Immortal title is the prestige chase. It needs Triumphs across raids, dungeons, PvP, Distortions, and Monument activities, and it unlocks the Immortal ornament set at the Tenet of Death.
Monument priorities players get wrong
- Grinding Power before it matters. The gear cap is 300, and activity grades reward execution over overleveling.
- Hoarding Legendary Marks. They only buy unlocks at the Tenet vendors.
- Chasing retired event content on a calendar. It is all permanent now.
The two systems returning players hit first are the Power path and the exotic sources, so start with Power leveling and how to get exotics.
