Jade Rabbit Catalyst: 250 Crucible Kills and +30 Stability

The Jade Rabbit catalyst comes from Crucible drops and asks for 250 PvP kills with the rifle equipped. Here is the exact requirement and why PvE grinding does nothing

The Jade Rabbit catalyst is a PvP item doing a PvP job. It drops from Crucible play, and the objective attached to it is 250 Guardian defeats with Jade Rabbit equipped. Nothing in PvE moves that counter — not strikes, not Nightfalls, not patrol. If you build a farming session around lost sectors, you will finish the night with a zero still on the node.

Where the catalyst comes from

It is a Crucible drop. You do not buy it from Xur, you do not pick it up from a seasonal vendor, and it is not tied to a quest step. Play Crucible with the rifle and it eventually appears.

This is the opposite of how most exotic catalysts work, and it is the single most common mix-up in guides written from a PvE-first perspective. Xur does sell the Jade Rabbit itself on occasion, but that is the weapon, not the catalyst.

The objective: 250 Guardian defeats

Once the catalyst is in hand, the node on the weapon asks for 250 Guardian defeats. Kills are the only currency. Assists, zone captures, and match completions do not count, and losing the match does not slow you down — a loss with fifteen kills is worth more than a win with two.

Do the arithmetic before you commit. At a realistic four to six kills a match for a scout rifle in the current sandbox, that is somewhere between forty and sixty matches. Playing your best mode matters more than playing the mode you think is fastest, because a mode you dislike turns into ninety matches instead of fifty.

What it actually does

The catalyst adds +30 Stability and completes the weapon’s Masterwork. For a 150 RPM kinetic scout with a base stability of 40, that is the single largest quality-of-life stat on the gun. Stability on a scout rifle controls how much the reticle climbs between shots, which is exactly what the Fate of All Fools loop asks you to do — chain body shots, then land a precision hit.

It does not touch range. It does not touch handling. If you have read a guide promising a range bump, that guide was guessing.

Is it worth the grind

Yes, if you ever bring Jade Rabbit into the Crucible, and no otherwise. The rifle is a PvP pick: 150 RPM, high impact, and a perk that rewards deliberate shot sequencing rather than spray. The catalyst sharpens the one stat that perk depends on.

If you only play PvE, skip it. The exotic weapons guide covers which catalysts pay off in PvE content instead, and the catalysts guide explains how tracking works across every weapon.
