Destiny 2 Yearning Echo: Armor Set Bonuses Explained
Yearning Echo is a real Destiny 2 armor set from Grasp of Avarice. Both bonuses, all three class variants, and the four-piece Crucible lockout explained.
Yearning Echo is a Legendary armor set, not a weapon and not an activity. It ships from the Grasp of Avarice dungeon in three class-specific variants, and all three count as Yearning Echo for set-bonus purposes. Two pieces switch on the first bonus, four switch on the second, so a full build runs four pieces and leaves the fifth slot open for an Exotic.
What each class variant is called
The set does not print “Yearning Echo” on the pieces. It prints the class name, which is why the term is hard to match against your inventory.
| Class | Variant | Five pieces |
|---|---|---|
| Hunter | Twisting Echo | Mask, Grips, Vest, Strides, Cloak |
| Titan | Descending Echo | Helm, Gauntlets, Cage, Greaves, Mark |
| Warlock | Corrupting Echo | Cover, Gloves, Robes, Boots, Bond |
If you are hunting the set for a Warlock, the armour screen will never say Yearning Echo. Search Corrupting Echo instead.
Untold Greed, the two-piece bonus
Four things feed the stack: ammo bricks, Orbs of Power, elemental pickups, and destroying a Strand Tangle. Each pickup adds stacks of Untold Greed. Every stack shaves a little incoming damage and adds reload speed to whatever weapons you are holding, up to a cap of 100 stacks. Community testing puts the damage reduction at roughly 15% once the stack is full.
Losing your shields costs some stacks rather than all of them, so a shield break slows the set down instead of resetting it. That detail is why the two-piece works as a general survivability pick and not just a Strand gimmick.
Overflowing Coffers, the four-piece bonus
While you hold stacks, Orbs of Power and elemental pickups hand over more of their energy, and Strand Tangles deal increased damage. Breaking your shields converts the entire stack into a burst of Orbs of Power instead of bleeding it away.
That inversion is the whole design. The set pays you for getting hit hard, then hands the payoff back as Super and ability energy. A Strand build leans into it hardest, because Tangles are both a stack source and a damage target.
The four-piece works in PvE only now
Two separate actions hit this bonus in 2026. On 12 June the Destiny 2 Team disabled Overflowing Coffers outright, citing Tangles dealing more damage than intended. On 1 July a narrower action disabled it inside Crucible only, with the reasoning that fast Super generation was distorting PvP, and Bungie’s own wording was that it keeps working outside the Crucible.
Update 9.7.0 was the final major patch, and no hotfix through 9.7.0.4 reversed that restriction. Treat the Crucible lockout as permanent rather than temporary. The two-piece bonus was never touched, which is why a two-piece Yearning Echo split is still a fair Crucible choice.
Where it comes from
Grasp of Avarice, the three-player dungeon, supplies every piece. The Grasp of Avarice guide covers the run itself, and the Yearning Echo farming page covers which encounters pay out which slots and why Master difficulty is the reliable drop source. For alternatives with different bonuses, the armor set bonuses guide puts the whole list side by side.
