Young Ahamkara’s Spine is a Warlock exotic chest piece that almost nobody can describe from memory. Everyone knows the name. Few remember the perk. Here is how to get one and what to do with it.

How to get Young Ahamkara’s Spine

  1. Check Xûr’s weekly stock. He rotates exotic armor, and older Warlock pieces show up in his inventory. Our Xûr guide lists his schedule and current stock.

  2. Check the Monument of Triumph kiosk. It sells old exotics in the Tower for Exotic Ciphers and materials. Confirm the Spine is listed before you spend a cipher. The Monument of Triumph guide covers the kiosk.

  3. Run Legendary Lost Sectors. They can drop exotic armor for your class on a daily rotation. Check today’s sector in the director before you load in.

  4. Confirm in Collections. If you already unlocked it, the Collections page shows the piece and its source. That stops you from re-farming something you own.

How the perk plays

The Spine is a Rift piece. Its exotic perk returns grenade energy when you cast your Rift, so the build pattern is simple: keep Rifts on cooldown and let grenades flow. Read the current perk text on your armor screen, because Bungie has retuned exotics before.

It is not a healing piece, and it does not touch your Super. Treat it as an ability-uptime chest rather than a support exotic. If your build wants faster grenades, the Spine earns its slot.

Which builds want Young Ahamkara’s Spine

Solar Warlocks get the most from grenade refunds, since the subclass leans on ability kills. Pair it with ability-focused mods and a weapon that carries a damage perk. The exotic armor guide explains how the one-exotic rule shapes the rest of the loadout.

In PvE you control space, so Rift casts land when you want them and the refunds stack up. In PvP the pattern is easier to punish, because a stationary cast is a target. Save it for PvE unless you enjoy the risk.

Exotics anchor a build, so decide what the Spine is doing for you before you spend materials. A chest piece that feeds grenades wants a subclass and mods that spend them.
