Tarkov Kappa in 1.1.0: Fence Reputation Is the Gate
The Kappa Path can no longer be earned; Collector grants Dawn of a New Era, and holders keep it. The container needs Fence reputation from Scav karma.
Patch 1.1.0.0 changed how the Kappa pursuit works, and the change is easy to miss if you are following old guides. The achievement and the container are now two different tracks, and only one of them is harder than before.
The achievement changed
“The Kappa Path” achievement can no longer be earned going forward. It is replaced by “Dawn of a New Era,” which you get from completing the Collector task. Players who already earned Kappa keep it on their profile — the change only affects new completions.
The container gate is Fence reputation
The Kappa container itself now requires Fence reputation, and that is a hard requirement with no shortcut. It cannot be bought, and it cannot be rushed with tasks. It accumulates only through Scav behavior — specifically Scav karma — which means the way you play your Scav runs is now endgame progress, not just early roubles.
What “Scav karma” actually means here
Fence reputation is the meter that tracks how you behave on your Scav runs, and it moves in both directions. Helping other Scavs, leaving friendly AI Scavs alone, and extracting without murdering your own side push it up; betraying and killing friendly Scavs pushes it down. Because the Kappa container gate is tied to this meter, your Scav runs are no longer throwaway roulette spins for quick loot — they are the slow, steady investment that decides whether you ever hold the container. The reputation builds only through that behaviour, not through PMC raids or market activity, so the players who treat every Scav run as a karma exercise are the ones who reach the gate.
What to do about it
If the container is a goal, running Scavs on cooldown from day one is the highest-leverage habit in the game. The first 72 hours page makes this the top opening priority for exactly this reason. Because Fence reputation cannot be bought, there is no item or trade that substitutes for the repetition. The only lever is repetition: more Scav runs, better Scav behaviour, and patience. That is why the earliest habit matters more than the latest one. The economy changes page explains why the broader money environment makes task and Scav income matter more than market plays, and the no-more-wipe page clarifies that your permanent profile is where this progress lives.
