Tarkov Leagues: The Weekly 50-Player Ladder Explained
Leagues rank every seasonal character inside a 50-player group by weekly XP. What promotes you, what demotes you, and why rank rewards never expire.
Leagues arrived in patch 1.1.5.1 as the first ranked ladder in Escape from Tarkov, and they apply only to seasonal characters. If you play nothing but your permanent PvP or PvE profile, none of this appears on your screen, which is why plenty of coverage still ignores it.
You are competing against 49 people
After your first raid of the season the game places you in a group of fifty players sharing your current rank, and that group keeps its own separate leaderboard. Your position depends entirely on experience earned during the week: kills on PMCs, Scavs and bosses, completed tasks, and even examining items all feed it. Money never enters the equation. The value of what you extract does nothing for a leaderboard that only counts experience. That structure has a consequence most players miss. In a fifty-person table where the top twenty-five rise, fifteen hold, and the bottom ten drop, safety is decided by where you sit relative to your cohort rather than by your absolute performance. A week you consider excellent can still end in relegation if forty-nine other people happened to have a better one, and a mediocre week can be enough to promote in a quiet group.
Arena experience is invisible here
XP earned in EFT: Arena is still awarded to your character, but it does not count toward League placement. Grinding Arena all week produces real progression that your rank cannot see at all. When your available playtime is limited, that asymmetry decides where the hours belong.
Rewards outlive your rank
The first time you reach a rank you unlock its rewards, and a later demotion never claws them back. Rewards stay usable in every mode, though anything delivered through in-game mail can land later on your PvP and PvE characters than on the seasonal one that earned it. Resetting a seasonal character resets your current rank along with every point of XP banked that week, so a self-wipe mid-week throws away an entire ladder cycle rather than just stash contents. Read the seasonal character page before you touch that reset item, and check the Kord Breach overview for what belongs to the season instead of your account. The weekly document flow that feeds the reward track is covered in the Battle Pass page.
