Helldivers 2 Fire and Status Effects: Invisible Resistances

Fire, bleed and slow hide their resistances from the UI. Fire ticks on wounded enemies, so it is strong against swarms and heavy parts.

Fire is damage over time

Fire does not deal its damage in one hit. It applies a burning stack that ticks for a duration, and a burning enemy can be finished by the ticks even after you look away. Because fire is treated as 100 percent durable damage (see the durable damage page), it is especially strong against the spongy parts of heavy enemies where normal bullets fail.

Bleed and slow

Bleed is a similar over-time effect applied by certain weapons and stratagems, useful for chipping enemies you cannot finish immediately. Slow reduces enemy movement, which is a control tool more than a damage source — valuable against chargers and other closers. Against Automatons fire is the softer half of the toolbox. Their units are machines, and burning tends to do less to a metal chassis than to a bug’s body, so bring fire for Terminid swarms first and treat it as a support tool on the bot front.

Resistances are hidden

Some enemy types resist or ignore specific statuses, but the game gives you no indicator. The only reliable way to learn it is experience: fire and gas tend to work widely, while a few heavily armored or mechanical units resist burning. The invisible stun meter follows the same philosophy — light enemies react, tank-class units barely do.

Practical use

Lean on fire weapons and fire stratagems against bug swarms and high-durability targets, use slow to break a charger’s charge, and do not assume a status will land on a boss just because it worked on a trooper. Match the tool to the enemy using the weak-point logic from the enemy armor values page.
