Helldivers 2 Grenade Guide
The grenade is the one offensive tool every loadout shares, and most Divers waste it. Which grenade to carry, and when to throw it instead of holding it.
The grenade is a panic button with a timer
Every Diver carries one grenade type, and it is the only explosive you do not call from the sky. The best primary weapons page covers your main gun; the grenade is what saves you when that gun runs dry or the enemy is on top of you. The support weapons page lists the heavy options, but the grenade is the one that is always in your hand.
Match the grenade to the front
Frag and explosive grenades clear chaff and finish wounded enemies. Stun and gas grenades control a crowd so the squad can reposition. Smoke breaks line of sight against Automatons. Incendiary grenades pair with the fire status playstyle on bug fronts.
Throw it, do not hoard it
The most common mistake is saving the last grenade for a perfect moment that never comes. A grenade thrown at a charger’s leg or a clustered patrol is a grenade that earned its slot. Hoarding it means you died with the answer in your pocket.
Grenades kill nests and spawners
Bug holes and bot factories often need a grenade or a stratagem to close. A well-placed explosive grenade can seal a hole when your support weapon is on cooldown. The nests and spawners page covers the priority; the grenade is the fast option.
Use stun to escape, not just to kill
Stun grenades are underused as an escape tool. When surrounded, a stun at your feet buys the seconds to dive away. The dodge dive reload habit pairs with this: stun, dive, live. The grenade is small, but the Diver who uses it well fights every engagement with one more option than the enemy expects.
