Congalala Hunt Guide: Mushrooms, Breath and Bad Air

Congalala changes breath by eating mushrooms and fills the arena with hazards. Where to hit it, how to read the mushroom, and why the rear is safer.

Congalala looks like comic relief and fights like an area denial puzzle. Its breath attack changes depending on which mushroom it has eaten, it fills the space around it with hazards, and the fight is mostly about not standing in the wrong place rather than about dodging a specific attack.

Target and element

The rear is the weak point, which is also the safest place to be. Fire and Ice are the elements to bring. Sonic Bombs do nothing to it, so a plan built on stunning it with sound is a wasted item slot.

Reading the mushroom

The breath type changes with what it has eaten: poison, paralysis, sleep, or a fire variant depending on the encounter. The colour and the animation before the breath tell you which one is coming.

This matters because the correct response differs. Poison wants you to already have antidotes. Paralysis and sleep want you to not be standing in the cone at all, because being disabled next to a large monster is the actual danger.

The gas and the throw

Its flatulence and its thrown projectiles are both area effects with a clear origin. Both are avoidable if you are watching the monster rather than your own combo. Both are what catch hunters who are farming damage on the rear and not looking up.

Why the rear works

Because the weak point and the safe zone coincide, Congalala rewards a simple plan: stay behind it, hit the rear, disengage when it turns. That is a much easier fight than trying to trade in front of it, where everything it does lands.

Gear notes

Antidote, sleep resistance or energy drink coverage depending on which breath you are seeing. Because the arena fills with hazards, mobility is worth more than defence here.

Check the weakness chart before you bring an element, read combat basics for positional fundamentals, and see farming materials for what its parts unlock.
